I got ready for bed, putting my own clothing into the cubby to be sent away to be cleaned. I guessed I’d need it for tomorrow. I’d get my things packed up and figure out where I was going to go.

I was feeling awfully sorry for myself as I brushed my teeth drunkenly and then used the toilet and washed up.

When I climbed into the bed, I heard the telltale clickety clicking that told me Chili was awake. I rushed to the nourishment station near Zane’s bed and found the recently ordered items and touched the baby bottle icon.

***

When Zane came into the bedroom, I was struggling to get the third lock open and little Chili had lost his patience and was clickety-clicking his little head off, attached to the bars at the front where all the locks were.

I cried out in exasperation and got rescued by the 7 ft tall alien who was my husband on paper, but not really my husband, and might --- in a little less than 24 hours be a twice widower (the second time only on paper) when I caught the space flu because no one would take pity on me and have sex with me.

He unfastened the last two locks and opened the door. Chili sprang out and landed on my shoulder, clickety-clicking his head off like an old-school typewriter.

“Thank you,” I grumbled and fetched the baby bottle from the not-microwave microwave-like thing and climbed into bed and fed the hungry pink floof.

“Lookie you little flurfball,” I slurred and stroked his head with a finger while he sucked back that baby fuschilla milk. “Such a cutie patootie. You’re like a little marshmallow Peep bunny with clingy monkey hands and feet, and I could just eat you right up.”

He cooed loudly in response, like I was making him happy. I giggled.

Zane was standing there, maybe looking at me – I didn’t know because I didn’t make eye contact. Little Chili kept me busy, gratefully, helping me not make eye contact with a man who had actually had his mouth on me down there, given me my first orgasm that wasn’t self-induced (which was, by the way, ten times more intense than anything I’d ever done with my hand or the vibrator I owned before I threw it out because of being sent to another planet), and then a second one directly after the first that was even bigger and better, making me make gang signs with my toes, but who stopped the festivities before he got any kind of reciprocation.

God… he hadn’t been with a woman in over four years. How come he didn’t at least let me do to him what he’d done to me, even if he didn’t want to marry me by having sex with me? I felt like I was missing something crucial here.

He’d had an erection and seemed like he liked what he was doing to me by how he did it. Obviously, what we were doing was turning him on.

So, what happened?

Chili fell asleep with his bottle in his mouth, so I carefully pulled it out and took him to the bathroom where I wiped his little face with a towel that hung there, and then I wandered back toward the cage. Zane took this opportunity to go into the bathroom and shut the door. I put Chili back into his cage, carefully, sort of scooping pink fluffy bedding around him so he’d feel all tucked in. I slid the slide lock closed. I closed the hook and eye with the twisty thing, but fiddled and fiddled and wasn’t able to figure out the other two mechanisms. I was way drunk and feeling a little woozy, but I got two of the four locks closed tight and decided that was good enough for now, so I stumbled up the two steps and got under the blankets.

This bed was super-duper comfy.

“Drink that glass of juice on the table, please, Tanya. Then you’ll avoid a hangover in the morning.” His deep and bossy voice came from nearby. I sat up and drank the throat warming juice, grabbing my throat as I did as it was extra warming tonight, for some reason.

“You all right?” There was concern in his voice.

Nope, still not gonna look at him.

The roof began to retract. Moonlight. I put the cup down on the table beside the bed and flopped back with a sigh.

God, the sky was pretty.

He leaned over me. “Hey.”

Shit. Eye contact. Light blue, concerned eyes. I looked away.

“I’m sorry if I’ve upset you,” he said softly, sweetly, taking my chin and making me look at him.

Oh damn, he was perfect. He was apologizing and leaning over me smelling so… so delicious. Those curls on his head kind of everywhere in an adorable way. Those full lips so close to mine. I just wanted to reach out and grab him and simultaneously bawl in his arms. I wanted to rip his pants off so I could just climb on and make sure I didn’t die because I didn’t wanna die. I wanted to soak in the moonlight with him and eat blue cupcakes and watch real-natural star show fireworks or ride in his sky car and ask him to teach me to fly that sky car and also wanted so much to get to know his little boy and make books with Ollie where I wrote the stories with his input and he drew his beautiful little pictures while we sat in the garden and watched freaking gemstones fall out of flowers.
