“Fuck that.” I wiped off sweat. “Now that I’ve experienced sex with Moni. . .I’m going to need it at least twice a day.”
Chen scowled. “You need to focus on the battle.”
“I’m focusing.” I cracked the side of my neck and got back in stance. “Finish up with the harem. What’s the problem?”
“Well. . .” Chen’s tone shifted slightly. “We have a small problem that I can handle on my own, so there is no need to—”
“What is the problem?”
“Ming Yui chose to stay behind.”
“What the fuck?”
“Despite our efforts, she could not be compelled to join the others.”
I frowned at him. “That’s not a small problem. That is a big one.”
“I can handle it.”
“If Ming Yui comes near Moni then I will harm her and I don’t want that.”
“I understand which is why I am handling it.”
“Is she still in the fucking Palace?”
“She is.” Chen sighed. “As we speak, the staff is packing the harem's various items into boxes and labeling them.”
Bolin joined the conversation, “During that process, Ming Yui tried to stop the packing, insisting that the harem will remain. She even resorted to kicking, biting, and even spitting in their faces.”
I tensed. “And?”
Bolin shrugged. “We have seven men keeping her in place in her room.”
“No.” I shook my head. “She must understand the full situation.”
Chen raised his eyebrows. “Okay. So what are you advising us to do?”
“Put her in the Palace prison.” I got back in stance. “She needs to understand that this situation is over and that she should have gotten her fucking ass on that plane.”
“I’ll do that now, Mountain Master.” Bolin bowed and headed off.
Hu went to the side of the ring while his men continued to attack me.
They were skilled, no doubt, but they weren't prepared for the synergy of mind and body I brought to the mat.
Moni is making me stronger and my mind more clear.
One by one, I anticipated and countered their moves, an exhausting dance that left little room for error.
“There we go!” Chen's voice was both a coach and a cheerleader, his confidence in me a powerful fuel. “Excellent execution. Perhaps, that day off was what you truly needed.”
“Then, maybe I should take tomorrow off.” I dodged another attack.
The sparring session carried on for a while longer, each move, each counterattack only increasing my determination.
“Left! Right! Now, flip!” Chen commanded from the sidelines.
I danced with my opponents.
One by one, they fell, their energy and determination draining away with each failed attack.
As the last man slumped to the mat, I looked over to Chen, my chest rising and falling rapidly but my determination unwavering.
Chen gave a nod of approval and for a moment I allowed myself to feel pride. “Not bad, Lei. Not bad at all.”
Hu had a weathered smile on his face. “Rest for now. We go again in an hour.”
One of my men rushed over with towels.
I grabbed one and wiped the sweat from my face. My muscles ached in satisfaction, but I knew this was only a brief respite before I had to face another round of intense training.
To my shock, Duck raced in with a worried expression. “Lei. . .”
I blinked. “What?”
Even more odder, Duck didn’t come up to me. Instead, he kept several feet between us and even got a little behind Chen.
How did he mess up now?
I quirked my brows.
Duck slumped his shoulders in defeat. “I just wanted to make you aware of the situation but I do have it under control.”
“What situation?”
“I have over fifty men on this—”
“On what?” I gritted my teeth.
“When I went back to your bedroom, Moni wasn’t there.”
Horror hit me. “What?”
“We’ve been searching all around, but you know the Palace is huge and we have men going over footage—”
“What the fuck!” I stormed out of the ring and headed off. “Find her. Now!”
Chapter four
Beneath the Silk and Diamonds
Monique
A woman’s voice sounded near, pulling me out of my slumber. “She’s such a gorgeous sight.”
“The kids will be beautiful.”
“Sister, do not get too excited just yet.”
“But, she could be pregnant right now.”
What?
My eyes fluttered open as I yawned and turned in the direction of where the voices were coming from.
O-kay.
Aunt Suzi and Aunt Min sat in chairs next to the bed with huge smiles on their face. And they were dressed like they were about to attend a grand opera—satin gloves and huge shimmering gowns, diamonds and pearls.
And Lei wants me to live here? This place is on some Alice in Wonderland shit.
But, what truly caught my attention were the four women dressed in various shades of blue, surrounding them.
Umm. . .okay.
Three of the women were Black, their presence strong and comforting, while the fourth had features that intriguingly blended Black and Chinese heritage.
The women stood next to a rack brimming with stylish blue designer clothes, each piece more exquisite than the last.
