Selfish or not, Sian was the one I wanted.

With no music to fill the car, I felt this overwhelming need to just speak, to blurt out anything random.

“Who are you going to fuck first?” There I said it. I broke the silence.

Sian looked at me with a frown.

I shrugged. “I’m bored. Sorry. I don’t handle tense situations well.”

“Shut up!” Gideon said.

Sian laughed and rested her head against my chest. “Thank you, William.”

“Is this where you tell me I’m going to be at the bottom of the need to fuck?” I asked.

“Do you want to be at the top?”

“This isn’t the time or place,” Gideon said.

“This coming from the guy who already knows how amazing it is to be inside her. Fuck off, and don’t rain on my parade. Yes, I want to be at the top.”

Sian put her hand on my thigh. She didn’t move up or down and I covered her hand with my own.

“I’ve missed you,” I said.

“I missed you, too.” She pressed a kiss to my lips.

I was about to deepen the kiss when we came to a stop.

Gideon smirked at me through the window, and I wanted to beat the crap out of him. It would do him well to be taught a lesson about manners. Fucker.

“We’re here,” Dante said.

Sian licked her lips. “Right, let’s do this.”

“Do we have a plan?” William asked.

“I’m going in first,” Sian said. “He was at the funeral and said that if I ever needed to talk, I knew where to find him.”

“He did?” Dante asked.

“Yes. I figure I can distract him and then when you guys are in position, one of you can grab him, or something. I don’t know. I haven’t really thought it through,” Sian said.

“You’re not going to try and seduce a teacher,” Gideon said.

“I’m going to try to find the person responsible for killing my friend. I’m willing to do anything.”

Again, this was too much for me. “Including anal?” I asked.

I had to be shot, or put down. My mouth was like a leaking tap.

Everyone turned to me. Now, call me an idiot but my friends looked … happy. Sian a little confused, and well, I wasn’t really sure what I was thinking or feeling when I randomly blurted out questions.

“I think Sian has an awesome plan. Anything that works is awesome,” I said.

“And getting your dick wet in the process is always a good plan for you?” Mateo asked.

“No one asked you.” I turned to my friend, who chuckled. I had no respect in this group.

Sian shoved my shoulder. “We’re wasting time here. Get out. I want to get this done with.”

I felt the tremble in her arms, and I wanted to help her, but there was nothing I could do but show as much support as possible.

Sian went on ahead, even as Gideon wished to argue. I liked that she didn’t allow him to push her to submit to him. She had a spine, a backbone, and it hadn’t been bent with everything that happened.

With her several feet in front, we took the back route, knowing how to get into the gym without Coach finding us.

“Why did you do that?” I asked as we headed across the grounds to where the gym was.

I was thankful Gideon didn’t try to play dumb, which was a huge relief.

“You know why I did it. She’s too busy wallowing in her guilt. We have to draw her out, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make that possible. I’m not trying to hurt her. Just … I want her to be happy with us.”

We all wanted the same thing. Sian happy with us, but at this very moment, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

We entered the gym, and there wasn’t anyone around. We moved toward the Coach’s main door and saw it was already open.

“I’m so pleased you came,” Coach Bilson said.

“Thank you. You told me that if I ever needed to talk to anyone, I was to come to you, and here I am.” Sian sighed. “It has been a really … crazy week.”

“Are you still with the Saintly Devils?” he asked.

“Yeah. My parents are still missing. I have no idea what’s going on. I can’t go home. I’m not allowed to, you know.” She sighed again. “I just wish I could speak to my mother.”

“I’m sure whatever Alexander is doing, it’s for her own good.”

“Well, I never, do you know my dad?”

“Of course I know your dad. He asked me to keep an eye on you.”

“Oh.”

Gideon moved first, entering Coach Bilson’s office. We all joined him, seeing him perched on the edge of the desk, holding Sian’s hand.

She pulled away, stepping back as I shut the door.

“Hello, Bilson,” Gideon said.

“What are you boys doing here?”

“Funny you should ask that. You know we were talking with our friend Fred Arson, you remember him?” Gideon asked.
