“They’ll fall for anything if you pay them well enough,” Sidell said, watching Leo with a half-smile that suggested he knew what he was talking about, even though he’d only met Leo twice.

Leo frowned at the mess at his feet. It was a fitting metaphor for his life. Good intentions ending badly. Every fucking time. “You all can stew in this sexless sausage party, I’m out,” he said and walked off, intent on not listening to any of their stupid answers.

There, Zolt could clean up the mess if he wanted to, because Leo would not. He was off to have some greasy burgers and pie, and then maybe watch some strippers and stop himself from thinking about a dick in his ass by looking at boobs. Sounded like a plan.

The door outside hadn’t closed behind him yet when Zolt stormed out, flushed from the alcohol he’d drank playing cards. “You can’t fucking leave. You know why.”

Leo waved his hand. “I’ve assesse-ssed the risk.” So he slurred a little, but it would be fine.

But instead of going back to his buddies, where he belonged, Zolt grabbed Leo’s shoulders with the same hands that had held him down during sex, and shook him. “If you leave this fucking place, I swear I’m gonna take the Smokey merch and throw it out!”

Leo bit his lips in silent fury. He pushed Zolt’s hand away as heat exploded in his skull, threatening to send steam out of his ears, but he already knew he’d lost. There would be no strippers, no rebounds with a pair of tits in his face, and no time away from this fucking pawn shop.

To think that he’d volunteered to be here. He’d gotten exactly what he’d wanted, and now here he was, sulking about it.

Zolt’s nostrils flared, his jaw muscles twitched, but when he let go of Leo, it felt as if the touch was still there. “Do we have an understanding?”

Leo sat on the edge of Zolt’s truck, his chest so tight he didn’t dare continue this argument, because his voice might break. “Fine.” Because what else could he do now? He was completely and utterly stuck.

Zolt’s blue eyes were cool as they lingered on Leo, but just as Leo thought Zolt might say something, he spun around and returned to his buddies.

As Leo did to his bottle.

Chapter 14 - Zolt

The table still retained the warmth of Leo’s body.

Zolt sat in the very place Leo had come, and while the stains left behind by their sperm and sweat had been wiped off, he could still sense their musk in the air, stabbing at his nostrils and demanding attention until he couldn’t think clearly anymore and lost a total of a hundred bucks halfway through the game. As if he hadn’t already lost several thousand on the merchandise damaged or taken by the Smokeys.

His gaze darted to the naked wall in the corner, where a stash of money and hundred gram gold bars awaited its moment, hidden behind the plaster. It wouldn’t be long now. He’d finalize the deal with the Smokeys, suck from the Jackals whatever money he could, and evacuate before either of the gangs realized what had hit them. Only a few more weeks, and he’d be out of here. His life—no longer at risk and finally devoid of obligations.

Neil nudged Zolt with his elbow. “Straight boy looked like he was sulking. He’s not getting any pussy on that couch, is he?”

Zolt stirred, surprised by the touch. His mind wandered instantly to that moment not so long ago when his dick had pushed into Leo, and the inexperienced body under his went wild at the unknown sensation. Leo’s eyes had rolled back, his lips uttered the sweetest of gasps, the tattoo on his back floated on the stirring flesh like a flag. Watching his expression had been the biggest turn-on.

He’d finally got to fuck one of the Heller brothers, but instead of satisfaction, all it had brought him was discontent. The fucking Smokeys had to show up and spoil everything, spoil Zolt’s long game goals when it came to Leo and made them a throwaway one-time fuck.

He was not happy at all.

“Maybe. Don’t care,” he told Neil.

Sidell puffed on his cigar with a self-satisfied smirk. “Did you make a move on him, and he turned you down? Is that it? How about you show us that notebook again?”

“Why don’t you shut up and play?” Zolt asked, confronting him with his gaze as bile rose in his throat. He was not sharing anything about Leo Heller with those three fucks. That would have been even more ammo for their loud mouths.

Anders chewed on his lip, trying to keep his smile from widening. “You did, didn’t you? Or did he go with it when he was drunk, and now he blames you?”
