Leo gave a nervous laugh, pushing his head against the pillow as if he wanted to drown in the mattress. “You’re heavy.”

“Don’t you like it?” Zolt asked, slowly lifting his weight off Leo. It took a lot of self-control to pull away from this handsome, horny piece of masculine candy, but Rome wasn’t built in one day, and all that—Rome being Leo’s ass, and building being fucking it. Zolt could pace himself. He could.

Leo took a deep breath, shutting his eyes for a moment. “I’m getting the vibe that you want to fuck me, and that’s not really what I’m about…” He stroked Zolt’s bicep, as if he wanted to soften that blow.

“What are you about?” Zolt asked, eager to make Leo feel good about this again. Seduction could be a difficult operation, and was all about the right pace. Zolt might have gotten ahead of himself, but he wouldn’t have known where the boundaries lay if he hadn’t tested them.

Leo watched him while his chest expanded and fell rapidly. “Touching’s good. Blow jobs are great. Making out is fantastic. Maybe I—never mind.” He smiled and pulled Zolt in for a kiss, but took the opportunity to slide out from under him like a cat evading a Rottweiler. Too much heat, after all.

“You wanted to say something,” Zolt whispered as soon as they were back to facing one another. He moved his hands up and down Leo’s wiry form.

Leo licked his lips. “I mean… you’re gay, right? So… if you wanted fucking, maybe I could try that. I think.” He didn’t seem to have enough vocabulary to describe what he was offering.

Of course. Zolt had heard this far too many times to be amused, but he still smiled at Leo. He was done giving control away to straight guys who didn’t even know what they were doing. “I don’t think so.”

Leo gave a slow nod, as if he was having a hard time computing a negative answer. He rolled out of bed, out of reach, and rubbed his flushed face. “Okay. So now we know where we stand. I like this, you know? Communication. Women can be really tough when it comes to telling you what they want.” And yet the scared ass virgin was already inching toward the door.

“Are you okay?” Zolt asked, pushing back the covers to reveal his stiff dick. Would that be enough to lure Leo back to bed, or was he going through a sudden identity crisis because he’d been rejected as a top?

Leo’s gaze zeroed in on Zolt’s cock, but they couldn’t get any goddamn peace because a sudden banging on the back door immediately put both of them on edge.

“Are you expecting someone?” Leo asked.

Claws of uncertainty dug into the back of Zolt’s neck, and he left the bed to grab his baseball bat.

Chapter 10 - Zolt

The baseball bat rested against the wall as Zolt checked his gun one last time. Uncertainty stirred under his skin when he approached the back door, calculating what he’d do if it was the Jackals. He hadn’t heard the roar of motorcycles—and they wouldn’t have sent just one guy if they knew Zolt had backup, but it wasn’t as if he’d been paying attention to sounds coming from outside when Leo was rocking against him.

Behind that door could be a bullet meant for his head, and as he approached, ready to face whatever the peephole was to reveal, more pounding made him flinch.

He’d taken many gambles in his life, but playing the Jackals and Smokeys at once might turn out to be his riskiest. The Smokey drug stash would be the last job. Once it was over, he’d sell his home, the pawn shop, and disappear before any of the so-called-partners, who’d off him at the tiniest sign of deception, noticed.

His shoulders sagged when he recognized the man outside. David Pallatino came over in his Sunday best and was now fidgeting like a pig that knew it was about to be slaughtered. There could only be one reason behind his presence.

They’d met at the gym a few weeks ago, had a quick jerk-off session in the showers after which David had confessed to being married, and Zolt hadn’t seen him since. Not here, not at the gym.

Now he was back at the worst possible moment. Zolt shook his head at Leo and put his gun on the side table before unlocking all five locks and opening the door onto a day so bright he had to close his eyes for protection. The pale stones scattered on the approach to the nearby hill were like mirrors reflecting the scorch straight at him.

“Hi.”

David’s dark eyes met Zolt’s as he ran his hand through his short hair. He looked as if he’d come straight from the barber’s. “Hey. Zolt, I know I said I had a wife, I know I said I didn’t know how to deal with this situation, but I’m ready to take that plunge. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It’s eating me up from the inside.”
