Lorne rocked back and forth on his feet and gave me a bashful smile that was completely manufactured but very well done. “Would you spank me if I was naughty or if I was good?”

He was doing his best to study me as he aimed that sweet innocence in my direction, but I knew better than to believe what he was projecting. “I can promise I’ll be a very good boy, Sir.”

Bullshit.

“I’m not going to encourage bad behavior, so we’ll use spankings and other impact play as a reward.” I’d been in other relationships in the past where it was more corrective than pleasurable, but that didn’t seem like it would be the right fit for Lorne.

“Aww.” His pout and the way he immediately pulled back on the act said I was right. “I’ll never get one now.”

“Told you he wasn’t just a little.” Monroe’s smirk had me fighting the urge to hex him. “And you need to let us in or we’re going to attract attention.”

Rolling my eyes, I snorted. “It’s you who’s been dawdling about coming in and I’ve got a privacy veil around the whole property.”

Lorne sparked back to life and sucked in his lower lip. “Really? How good is it?”

Please.

Glaring at the naughty boy, I ignored the shiver it sent through him. “I could turn into an ogre in the front yard and fuck you against that tree and no one would notice how I looked or hear your screams.”

Okay, so I was being an asshole on purpose and deliberately pushing him, but I didn’t regret it when he stepped closer. “Would you have a knot?”

He was severely lacking in common sense.

Before I could answer his technically valid question, Monroe stepped in and picked up his monkey. “You will have a date with Carrick and explain your limits before you play pretend with the mage.”

Lorne pouted as Monroe tucked him under one arm and pushed his way into the house. “Aww.”

I happened to agree with the monkey, but I didn’t think it was the time to point that out. “Let’s try this again. Please, come in.”

My dry response got a giggle from Lorne, but his common sense hadn’t found its way to the surface yet as they headed into my living room. “If you turned into a tree, could I climb you?”

“I think what you’re asking is if you could hump me and the answer is no.” Following them through the house, I ignored Monroe’s snort. “But technically, I can turn into a tree. I have a strong affinity for illusions and shapeshifting.”

I could do the standard nature magic that most mages were born with an affinity toward and had studied enough healing magic to be highly proficient. However, shapeshifting and illusions were much more fun, even if they weren’t practical in everyday use.

And from what I knew of my newest mate, I’d had a feeling he’d be more impressed with my being able to turn into an ogre than keeping him healthy.

I was glad to know that I’d been right.

“How did I not know this?” Lorne squirmed as Monroe sat down on my couch and settled our sub on his lap. “All anyone talks about is flowers and healing spells. This is much more interesting.”

Monroe was trying not to laugh, probably because he didn’t want to encourage Lorne, but he didn’t seem to think the troublemaker was wrong. “I think it’s more socially acceptable to make flowers bloom and heal sick people.”

As I sat down in a nearby chair, I had to shrug because he wasn’t wrong. The naughty bits of magic were always brushed over until the more creative types like me realized that if they could change their looks to blend in with humans more, they could change other things about themselves.

“But being able to fuck like an ogre, or an orc? That’s just—” His eyes got wider as he leaned forward. “Oh, could you be an alien?”

He nearly tumbled head over heels off Monroe’s lap as he vibrated with excitement, but luckily our oversized dragon mate was faster than he looked. “Got you.”

Lorne patted the hands that were now a seatbelt but didn’t let nearly breaking his neck distract him from his dirty goal. “What is your opinion on tentacles?”

Dragons above.

“You have to wait until we’ve all had our dates before you can try and talk him into becoming a tentacle monster.” Monroe’s rough tone didn’t make the sentence any less ridiculous.

And for some reason, he seemed to think he got to make rules for all of us.

We’d need to have a discussion on that, but for the time being, I’d let him pretend to be in charge.

Lorne ignored how crazy it was, though, and turned to aim wide eyes at his new Daddy. “But, Daddy Monroe…”

The stern expression Monroe was radiating said he wasn’t going to budge. “You need to get to know your mates first. We need to get to know you. Limits need to be exchanged and you need time to process all the changes that have happened this morning.”
