I made myself stop rambling before I sounded like an idiot and aimed to look stoic and badass.

It just made Carrick snicker.

“Are you trying to ask if you can stay the night or are you worried about leaving him here with me unsupervised?” His smirk said he knew my answer would be both, so I had to think of something else to say.

“I want to make the best decision for Lorne. I don’t want him waking up somewhere unfamiliar or upset that we stepped over a boundary we aren’t aware of yet.” I was starting to think we should take him to his place no matter how sexy Carrick’s grin was.

Rolling his eyes, Carrick shifted lower on the bed so he was stretched out beside Lorne with their heads next to each other on the pillow . “Monkey? Your Daddy wants to know if we should have a sleepover tonight.”

That was cheating.

Lorne was right…Carrick cheated.

“I’m not going anywhere.” Lorne’s mumbled answer had Carrick trying not to laugh. “But sleepovers get kisses. You have to give me my way. I’m your mate.”

Huh?

Carrick didn’t seem like he was following the rambling order either, but he shrugged and leaned closer to brush his lips again Lorne’s. “Now you’ve got a kiss.”

Lorne scrunched up his face and opened one eye. “Now Daddy.”

He was bossy when he was tired.

But he had been spanked and was exhausted, so I leaned over him and gave him a kiss too. It was slightly lopsided because of the angle, but Lorne didn’t seem to mind. “Good, Daddy. Now Master.”

I was back to being confused, and as I straightened, Carrick didn’t look like he knew what was going on either.

Lorne waited a few seconds before sighing again. “Each other. We’re a triangle. One. Two. Three. Got to get all the sides. I’m too tired to talk you into it, so just pretend I did.”

I was back to not knowing what to say.

He was right. He was too tired to do anything logical, but that didn’t mean I was going to make Carrick do something he didn’t want to.

Lorne’s one open eye focused on Carrick, who was back to wearing his smirk. “Master, I’m tired and Daddies worry. You have to fix it.”

He was not too tired to talk us into what he wanted.

Carrick chuckled. “Fine, but we’re going to talk about you being pushy.”

Lorne smiled, probably only hearing what he wanted to hear. “Thank you, Master.”

Carrick’s snort said we were on the same page about that, but he quickly pushed up on his arm again and leaned over Lorne. “Your monkey is tired. Don’t keep him waiting.”

For fuck’s sake.

Rolling my eyes, I leaned closer and brushed my lips against Carrick’s. “This is ridiculous.”

“Aw, you’re so cute.” Lorne sighed as we moved away from each other, but before he could say anything else, he took a deep breath and was out again.

Wonderful.

Carrick might’ve been a cheater but Lorne was something special too.

“You shouldn’t have let him do that to you.” Lorne was out, so I didn’t bother trying to whisper. “You can’t let him manipulate you into doing something you don’t want to.”

How did he not know this?

Carrick cocked his head before sitting up. “You’re serious.”

Why wouldn’t I be?

“Your limits are just as important as his.” Shaking my head, I sat up too and found myself glaring at the infuriating man. “Just because he’s cute and bossy doesn’t mean he gets his way all the time.”

I probably should’ve been giving myself the same lecture but giving it to Carrick made me happier. "He won't have a heart attack if you tell him no."

Carrick’s lips turned up on one side and he stared at me like I was insane. “I won’t let him have his way all the time, but you have to remember that too.”

Shrugging, I brushed past that point. “He’d have woken up if we’d taken him home. It would’ve been fine.”

Looking just a bit too thoughtful, Carrick’s silence made me wonder what he was thinking, but once he started to make that clear, I wished I hadn’t been so curious.

He climbed on my lap.

Deftly making his way over our sleeping lump, Carrick settled himself on my lap before going back to glaring at me with his arms folded across his chest. “Are you saying you don’t think I’m attracted to both my mates?”

Was I supposed to apologize for that?

“That’s not the point.” This was not how we were supposed to be having this discussion or arguing in general.

“It is.” Still looking stubborn and like the pain in the ass he always was, Carrick kept glaring at me as I ignored how strange it was to have his ass on my dick. “I asked you a question and I think I deserve an answer.”

Dragons above.

Mates were harder than I’d thought they’d be.
