“Of course you want him dry.” Carrick scoffed as he got his expression under control. “We can’t have him wet. Think of his skin.”

Shaking his head like the thought was ridiculous, he headed out of the kitchen mumbling something about Daddies shouldn’t have to point out obvious things.

Lorne gave a quiet giggle but it faded quickly as he tried to snuggle closer. As he closed his eyes, I started patting his back and walking us toward the bedroom. Carrick’s bedroom? Our bedroom? Carrick and Lorne’s bedroom?

At the very least, we were going into the room with the biggest bed and Carrick’s clothes.

“Silly Papa.” I gave Lorne’s head a kiss as he made a soft agreeing sound. “But he’s learning to be a good Papa, isn’t he?”

The huff that came from the bedroom made me fight the urge to laugh.

“We’re going to give you a good cuddle and you can have a drink and then we’ll snuggle together.” Lorne was by far the most tired of the three of us, but that was because he seemed to live life at double the speed of everyone else.

Our sleepy boy nodded and hummed before patting my chest.

It didn’t mean as much as he seemed to think it would.

“Yeah, we’re going to cuddle and you’ll snuggle with Papa and me.” He let out a soft groan, making it clear I’d guessed wrong.

But playing let’s guess what the little wants would have to wait until the little in question was dry.

“Here we go.” Stretching him out on the towel that Carrick had put down for us, I leaned over and kissed Lorne’s nose. “You’re such a good boy.”

A brave boy who knew that his Daddy would take care of him…so I brightened the ribbon in my head that led to my sparkly boy and tried to make sure he knew that. I didn’t exactly send words but I tried to use the same techniques Carrick had used earlier to send feelings through to Lorne.

Pride and love and all the emotions that were wrapped up in being his Daddy went through our bond, but I wasn’t sure he’d gotten any of it until he let out a quiet smile around his thumb. “Good Daddy.”

The mumbled words were adorable but it was his emotion coming back to me that made it utterly perfect.

So I leaned over again and gave him another quick peck as I finished getting everything we needed out of the bag. “Good boy.”

Carrick seemed to understand the moment and just reached out to stroke his hand over Lorne’s head. He kept up the soft caresses as I straightened and worked on changing our cuddly boy. He was so tired he looked utterly innocent, but I knew I should appreciate the calm while it lasted.

Lorne was the type of little where a Daddy had to appreciate all the moments, but the tender, cuddly ones would be special because they wouldn’t come around very often.

There was just too much mischief in him and it had to come out on a regular basis or he’d pop like a balloon.

His sleepy giggle said he’d gotten that too, so I just smiled as I slowly dimmed the ribbon. “Daddy.”

He dragged the word out around his binkie as I wiped the area the diaper had covered, and then he closed his eyes, obviously loving all the attention. “Silly boy.”

“Pop.” His mumbled response seemed to confuse his Papa but only for a second before Carrick chuckled.

“Yes, we don’t need you to pop.” Obviously understanding the joke, Carrick shook his head. “That would be messy.”

Lorne was almost too out of it to laugh but as I slipped another diaper under his bottom, he sighed happily. “No…no stickies.”

It took entirely too much effort for him to get the teasing words out and I couldn’t help wondering how he was still able to think. I was pretty sure that it wouldn’t last long once we were cuddled up in bed, but I still found his stubbornness to be amazing.

He managed to hold on to consciousness while I got him dressed again but he was fading fast as I gathered him up in my arms and we all sat down on the bed. He was stretched out across both of our laps, and he made sure he was resting his legs on his Papa’s lap, barely wiggling them just enough to let us know he was thinking about teasing Carrick.

We both chuckled but it was more about how cute he was than how funny his teasing had been. “Alright, sweetie. No more thumb.”

Lorne’s arm flopped to his chest as I slipped the bottle in between his lips. He closed his eyes and barely twitched his hand, gesturing it back and forth between us. At some point he was going to have to realize we couldn’t read his mind without actually reading his mind. Right?
