“But I can do it at home?” Lorne looked frighteningly serious as he asked the ridiculous question. “One of our homes, I mean?”

Monroe was never going to stop giggling.

“Yes. Because that’s private enough that you can use your preferred descriptions unless they get out of hand.” That had Monroe’s little monkey flashing me a very cheeky grin. “If it gets to that point, we’ll make rules to curb your behavior.”

Head cocking and eyes narrowing, it was easy to see that Lorne was trying to figure out where that line would be so he could skip down it. I wasn’t completely sure what was going through his head, but after a moment he straightened and nodded. “Yes, Sir.”

Not suspicious at all.

Monroe managed to catch his breath and look like a real adult again, but I wasn’t impressed by how long it’d taken. “Then let’s head over to Carrick’s again and he can make us dinner.”

“Noodles.” Bouncing like he was still inching closer toward his little headspace, Lorne beamed at me and then turned his head to smile at Monroe. “Ready, Daddy?”

Monroe nodded, kissing Lorne’s nose. “Ready, monkey.”

Lorne turned back to me with a big smile that was nowhere near as sweet as he was intending it to be. “Ready, Magey?”

No.

Just no.

As they both snickered, I waited and frowned before deciding on a more aggressive tactic. “Sir turns into an ogre. Magey does not.”

“Aww.” Pouting, Lorne huffed. “Yes, Sir.”

Much better.

He seemed to take the rule to heart, so I leaned down and gave him a quick peck on the lips. “Good boy.”

I wasn’t quite sure where he was at on the little to big scale, so I kept our kiss innocent, but I had to admit to feeling decidedly adult as I looked down at his smiling face. “Thank you, Sir.”

“You’re welcome.” Resisting kissing him again until I knew what he wanted, I straightened and stepped back. “But I think it’s time that we take this conversation out of the Walmart parking lot.”

We were starting to draw attention…mostly from people who seemed to be employees, so I had a feeling they knew Lorne better than I’d expected.

“Yes, Sir.” Lorne bounced away from Monroe, smiling widely and looking excited for our date. It was such a change from how he’d first reacted to meeting me, I wasn’t sure how to take it. “Noodles and kisses and no ogreing. Got it.”

He seemed to think repeating his agreement not to be ogred on our first date made it more believable.

It did not.

But it made his Daddy happy, which seemed to be why he was doing it.

“That’s right.” Monroe reached out and ran a hand over Lorne’s head. “We’re going to get to know each other and enjoy our dates.”

Nodding a bit too eagerly, Lorne was trying too hard to appear innocent. “Yes, Daddy.”

Monroe seemed to want to fall for it hook, line, and sinker. “You’re such a good boy.”

The brat even got a forehead kiss.

“Thank you, Daddy.” Playing into his role—because that was what it seemed to be at the moment—Lorne took Monroe’s hand and swung it back and forth. “I can’t wait to have cuddles after dinner and get to know you both more.”

Because it would get him one step closer to being ogred…and whatever naughty things he was thinking about his Daddy.

Just because he was aiming for sweet and innocent as he smiled up at Monroe didn’t mean that was all the monkey was thinking.

“I think that sounds like a wonderful plan.” Monroe honestly seemed to believe that, which had me fighting the urge to shake my head.

I was glad that Lorne had at least one partner who wasn’t thinking about bending him over and spanking him, but I was starting to second-guess the decision to let the sweet Daddy keep thinking he was setting the pace for the sexual side of our relationship.

****

Magic spaghetti was, in fact, carbonara, but Lorne’s attention span wasn’t long enough to watch me make it.

But part of that was probably because poking through my house was more fun than watching water boil.

“Did you know you have a library and a working room, but no dungeon?” Lorne’s voice echoed through the house making me fight the urge to roll my eyes. “Why don’t you have a sex dungeon ready for me? You’re my mate.”

Somehow, I knew the two things were tied together in his head, but I thought the connection was tentative at best. “When did we add putting together a sex dungeon as a step in getting ready to claim my mate?”

My slightly dry delivery had giggles filling the house. “I’m gonna get claimed.”

For some reason, he thought that was hilarious.

“I won’t tell Kenzie or anyone at the diner, though.” Lorne’s earnest tone said he remembered the privacy discussion but I wasn’t sure how long that would last. “I’ll be good.”
