“I do.” She finally gives. I lean down, smirking at her.

“It gets your pussy wet, doesn’t it? When I order you around?”

“You’re so crude.” I lick my lips, dying to get a taste of that wetness. Soon, I tell myself. Never in my life have I wanted to go down on a woman. Now it’s all I can think about. She’s not the only one who’s going to be having some firsts.

“And you love it.”

“What—” I cut her off with my mouth because she can try to brush off what I’m saying all she wants, but she sure in the hell won’t deny it. I might bark orders, but fuck me, she has me by the balls. She gives me one sad look and I’m falling all over myself trying to explain that she means something to me.

“What you have on is perfect unless you’ll let me put you in a sack.”

“Why would you do that?”

“Don’t want other people staring at you. I’m a jealous bastard.”

“People don’t stare at me.”

“Right.” I shake my head. She really has no damn clue how sexy she is. As much as her being naïve and innocent turns me on, it also makes me want to protect her and keep her to myself. It still scares the hell out of me too.

It’s not until we’re pulling up to the main office at Adair Mines that I realize how many men work around here. When Jason is around, he’s always in the thick of it. He’ll be in the mines or over fucking with the crops.

He hates being in the offices. His always sits empty. When he does have to be in one, it’s at the club, but he uses that one to hide out more often than not. When he's here at the main building, he’s in my office.

“Stay put,” I tell her after I park. “I’ll get your door.”

“We’re boss and employee when we’re here. Make sure you act accordingly.” She smirks as though she’s won some little victory.

“You might as well get that out of your head now.” I jump out of the vehicle and come around and open the door.

“Hey, you can’t show favoritism and stuff.” She tries to reason with me.

“Yeah, I fucking can, and I will.” She rolls her eyes at me. I give her ass a smack. She lets out that cute little squeal of hers. The one that shoots straight to my dick.

“Oh my gosh! I’m going to murder you.” She glares at me, but her eyes twinkle.

“You don’t have to come in with me. I can take you over to hang with Ollie.” I point over toward where the club house is a few miles away.

“No. I’m here to work. I’m not getting paid to hang out with my friend.” She holds her chin up high, ready to go inside. I take every inch of her in, realizing I’m not getting anything done today.

I tend to be a calm and rational person. It takes a lot to get me really mad at you. Ollie often says I’m way too nice to people. That I need to stand up for myself. I know she’s right, but together she and I make a good team. Whenever someone cuts her off when we’re out riding around together and she wants to yell out the window what a terrible driver they are, I can always talk her down.

I don’t think every time someone cuts you off they mean to. Sometimes people make mistakes. These things happen. You never know what’s going on with a person. It’s funny how I’m now trying to convince myself of this as I try to remain calm. I suck in a breath, trying to recall what the lady said in the yoga goat class Ollie and I took one time about owning your own mood.

Nothing comes to me. I grip the pencil in my hand a little harder. It snaps when laughter sounds from outside Archer’s open office door. I will end her. She has the worst laugh in the world. Okay, that’s a lie. It’s totally all raspy and sexy. Mine is high-pitched, and sometimes a snort pops out. Not that I’m laughing today. I don’t know why Archer needed another assistant if he already has one.

One that clearly doesn’t like me. I can’t even blame her. I have no clue what I’m doing here. She’s actually qualified for this job. I know this because she’s mentioned to me twice that she has a degree from some fancy college.

See! I can’t even recall what college, and she’s said it more than once. I’m the opposite of qualified. I’m making everyone else's job harder. I’ve been fighting with a spreadsheet for the past hour.

Archer comes walking back into his office. He got up abruptly and left a few minutes ago. Soon after, Felicity started giggling out there. What was she even laughing at? Archer isn’t even funny.
