“It seems I have a soft spot for your wife, Niko. Deal with it.”
I look between him and Vic. “That seems to be in the water.” I send an extra glare at Vic as he hides his mouth. That bastard is smiling.
“If you lie, I get to make you pretty and if you continue to lie, I get to cut your tongue out,” Emilia brags, holding up the knife. It’s polished so glossy that it shines with the light in the room.
Katherine fidgets in the chair, panicking.
Emilia looks like a whole different woman—she sure as hell sounds like it. How the fuck did I miss this? I knew she had hidden depths inside her, but I didn’t foresee this. She comes to stand just behind me, stating without words that she’s here in support of me. Christ. She’s perfect. She fits in my world like a glove. Did Maxwell have any idea?
I think he may have. I remember one of the last things he said to me was I would bring the fire in her back. Looking at her now, making me long to see my friend behold his daughter one last time. She’s magnificent.
“We are going to talk about this later,” I tell her as I sigh. She moves to kiss my cheek, but I capture her lips.
I turn to motion one of the guards to take off the gag. “I’ll do it,” Emilia says, and I let her go. I think Katherine may be more afraid of Emilia than me right now. Maybe the woman does have a few brain cells.
“Fuck. I wish there was another way to get her to talk without having to actually hear her,” Antonio complains, shaking his head. “Her voice is as annoying as piss dripping on your ankle when you don’t shake your cock enough.”
“Ankle?” I ask him as I try to make sense of it.
Antonio smirks as he shrugs. “Some of us have been gifted by the gods,” he purrs. I roll my eyes.
“What was your purpose for being in Niko’s room in Greece?” Emilia asks, ignoring the banter. She violently rips off the duct tape from Katherine’s lips, causing her to cry out. I wince. Damn, that must hurt. I rub the back of my neck absently. This new Emilia will take some getting used to, but hell if I don’t like it.
“You crazy bitch,” Katherine seethes, glaring daggers at Emilia until I pound my fist on my desk making her jump while Emilia looks unfazed.
“Be careful how you speak to my wife because you’re two very small steps away from forfeiting your life.”
“I—I was there to hide from Noah. We had a fight and he hit me.” Katherine splutters. “I showed you, Niko. You saw the bruise yourself.”
Antonio barks out laughing. “Bitch. Stop. You’re wasting your breath and my time right now and neither of those scenarios is going to work well for you. Do you really think we don’t know there’s no Noah by now? You lied the entire time. We know Dante paid for your ticket to Athens and arranged your lodging while you were there.” Antonio stares her down, silently daring her to argue.
“You didn’t tell me that,” Emilia says, quietly, looking put out.
“I may have let you lead where Katherine was involved, but I’m not a man that sits idle when two of my best men are taken out and a third was halfway along with them.”
Emilia nods in understanding. “Does this mean Katherine just lied?” She says it in a mock surprised tone.
“Yeah, she did,” Antonio says, nodding and smiling. He’s enjoying this too much.
“Then it’s my turn,” she practically purrs, dropping her smile as she faces Katherine, knife held up for view. It’s sexy the way she’s trying to intimidate Katherine by holding the knife. I doubt it will work on her, but I won’t ruin Emilia’s fun.
“Niko!” Katherine yells as she panics. “We cared about each other. Keep her away from me.”
‘Sorry, I can’t. You lied. And Emilia is her own woman. Besides I think this will make her happy and I like my wife happy.”
“You’re married?” Katherine asks, having not caught that information earlier. Emilia holds up her hand with the gold band on it.
“Yeah, you missed that little morsel of information, didn’t you? That’s because Dante doesn’t know it yet. He will find out tonight.”
Emilia walks over, holding the knife against Katherine’s cheek. Katherine jerks her head back, recoiling from the steel.
If it didn’t hurt so much and wear me out, I’d laugh. I don’t know where my wife has learned her new moves, but damn if she doesn’t look hot while doing it. I can barely move my body, but my cock is getting hard just watching her in action. It’s good to know at least that part of me is working as it should.
