Terror raced through me.

I didn’t want to take another step inside, but I had to deal with him.

I stepped forward, my feet sinking into the plush white carpet.

I quickly looked at the massive couch where I’d chained Azar. Shreds of the yellow comforter I’d thrown on him covered the black couch mixed in with strips of sage rope.

He wasn’t there.

Terror stabbed at my heart. I pushed my fangs out just in case he tried to attack me.

I knew he was powerful, but. . .

I scanned the space.

Every inanimate object was now influenced by the demon magic that had flowed through it. Chairs and vases rocked back and forth on their shoulders, like trees in a heavy wind. A lamp flickered on and off as if a stormy wind were rushing through the room. The drapes on the balcony swished back and forth as if a stormy wind was rushing through.

I gulped down fear. “Azar? Let’s talk. . .Okay?”

A boom sounded to my right. All the potted plants in the corner exploded.

I jumped back and held in a scream.

Soil, leaves, and pebbles burst in the air and then fell down over everything in a rain of chaos.

I fanned away the dust in front of my face. “Azar, just—”

A hail of debris slammed into the windows, shattering glass and splintering the frame. The dust in the air sizzled and popped with the demon magic.

Just don’t let him kill you, before you talk to him.

“Azar.” I cleared my throat. “If you just let me explain—”

Another boom banged against the wall on my left. Chairs and vases crashed to the floor.

The hotel’s phone rang. No doubt security wondering what was going on.

I definitely won’t be able to stay here again.

Ring.

His voice sounded from the darkness in front of me. “You want to explain?”

“Yes.” I couldn’t see him. He must have been cloaking himself.

Ring.

Then, his voice came right next to me, whispering in my ear. “What is there to explain?”

I jumped to the opposite direction.

He’s too fast.

Terror quaked through me.

Ring.

I bared my fangs. “Azar, show yourself so I can explain.”

“I believe I understand enough.”

A large crack split the glass end table on my right and then it shattered into tiny sharp pieces.

Ring.

I guarded my face with my hands.

Snarling came from behind me.

I turned, but saw nothing, and rushed to the other side of the room.

Ring.

This time, his darkness swarmed in every direction in the room. “I think that all mysteries about you that I may need solved. . .can simply be discovered from cutting you open.”

Getting in a fighting stance, I frantically looked around me. “I-I think. . .that’s a horrible plan.”

All of the lights went off.

Ring.

I shrieked and tried to squint through the darkness.

“Azar, stop. Let me explain.” I ran to a turned over lamp that I remembered was near the front door and picked it up.

The phone finally stopped ringing.

My hands shook as I turned the light on.

Azar stood in front of me.

Broken chains and locks dangled from his huge hands. Haunting red filled his eyes.

He smacked the lamp out of my hand. It smashed into the wall.

I trembled in fear.

Demonic magic circled around us. Almost suffocating on it, I clutched my neck. “You have to let me explain.”

Sweat dripped down his face as his muscular chest heaved up and down. One corner of his lips lifted as he sneered.

I shivered. “We’re in Brazil. I didn’t take you to Adae—”

Fast, Azar’s hand wrapped around my throat, stopping me from saying another word.

“You think because you didn’t put me in his dungeon that we’re buddies?” Hissing, he looked around the room and then stopped his gaze at the wheelchair by the door. “That’s how you moved me around?”

“Yes.” It was difficult to swallow or even speak with his hand around my throat. “Let go.”

“You think you’re in a position to order me to do anything?”

I curled my hands into fists.

Azar glared at me. “You’re going to die here.”

Fast, I spun my fists up and around. Fierce energy surged through my muscles. I slammed my left fist into his chest.

He grunted.

In the next second I jabbed him with a sharp right. The sharp jab landed to his gut with the force of a sledgehammer.

Shocked, Azar let my throat go and stumbled back a few steps. A vase crushed under his feet.

Hurry. Hurry.

I spotted my needle bag behind the couch and dove to the other side of the room.

He caught my left ankle with his hand. “No, little one.”

He slung me onto the couch.

Shrieking, I crashed into the cushions ass-first. Throw pillows rose and fell around me, and my breath left my chest in a quick gasp.

He was close behind me, leaping over the couch before I could escape. He was on top of me fast. His heavy weight made it difficult to breath. His hard chest pressed against my breasts. His thick, muscular thighs straddled my small hips.
