“Yeah well, now I’m right where you wanted me without having to strut around on stage giving everyone an eyeful of the blessing I was born with. Anyway, I put this tidbit in my daily report, but since I doubt you’ve read it yet… A piece of shit Astro Van showed up in the parking lot behind the club. I’m pretty sure those fucknuts are planning on using it as a stash van. Mel’s going to check the security camera footage to see if it was Saint, or at least a Demon, who dropped it off.”

“Damn. They’re digging their heels in deep there.”

“Yeah, seems so.”

“Then it’s good you have your foot in the door and that Mel will be another set of eyes.”

“I’ll also have her check it after a couple of days to see who’s re-upping the stash.”

“Good. Can she grab us copies of any pertinent videos?”

“They’re stored in a cloud, so I’ll see if she can download any important footage for our files.”

“With her being the manager, we should be able to use anything handed over willingly for our case. Even better, that’ll be irrefutable evidence against the Demons.”

“The best kind.” Finn scraped his fingers down his beard. “Too bad we can’t rip that club from their grubby fucking fingers so she can buy it at auction like we did with this place.”

“Yeah, well… You know how long that shit would take. First, the government would have to seize the property and then…”

“Yeah. Years of red tape. It wouldn’t be an ideal situation for her financially.”

“Wouldn’t it be better for her to start her own club in the same area, steal the stable of dancers and their clientele?” Crew asked.

“If she does that before the Demons are taken down, it might put a target on her back from the MC.”

“It could,” Crew agreed.

“No matter what, the dancers will go wherever she goes because she was one of them and she treats them with respect. I doubt those bikers do.”

“They don’t respect women in general.”

“True enough.”

“That it?”

“No,” Finn answered. “I need another vehicle. That fucking Kia will not fit my dominant persona. I can’t be in the club bossing around my woman, then go out and lose my balls the second I climb into a Soul. It’s a fucking joke.”

Crew pursed his lips. “I’ll see what I can do. The problem is, you were pretending you were broke. That’s the reason we used for why you joined the Peckers.”

“I don’t need a fucking Lamborghini. Just a used pickup truck or something. Something more manly than that damn Kia. Driving it is destroying my soul.”

Crew chuckled. “True dominant men aren’t affected by fragile masculinity.”

“Like you’d know, J. Crew. All right, I just wanted to give you that update. I’m heading home to catch a little more shut-eye.” He pushed to his feet and headed toward the door.

Crew calling out, “By the way, you’re welcome for that cushy assignment,” stopped Finn in his tracks.

“Yeah? You get up on stage and deal with that rabid pack of women while your cock is turning a scary shade of purple from a lack of circulation, then tell me if it’s cushy.”

“But look where it landed you. Now you get to be a hot blonde’s boyfriend. If you play it right, you might get some extra perks out of it.”

He only hoped so because his fist wasn’t a great substitute for the real thing.

Sapphire sidled up to Mel and leaned into her, warning, “Taint’s here.”

Great. “Thanks for the heads up. Hey… umm… last night…”

With raised eyebrows, Sapphire straightened and stepped in front of Mel to face her. “Last night…”

Here goes nothing… “Danny and I hooked up.”

Mel winced when the hostess’s squeal was so high-pitched, it could draw a pack of wild dogs. “No, you didn’t! With that hot hunk of ginger spice?”

“Mmm hmm.”

“Well, look at you, you lucky bitch. Your dry spell is finally over. It’s no surprise you picked him to do it with. He’s irresistible.”

“It’s only been dry because I’ve been too damn busy since Laura left.”

“What matters is you got laid!”

“Phire, lower your voice,” Mel hissed.

Sapphire swatted her freshly-manicured hand in the air. “No one can hear me over the music. So, now what?”

“So,” she shrugged, “I like him.”

“I would hope so since you two did some dirty pole dancing.”

“He’s taking me to dinner if Cookie graces us with her presence tonight.”

“Even if she doesn’t, go. I can manage things until you get back.”

Mel gave her friend and coworker a smile. “Thanks. It’ll be interesting to see how things go.”

“Wait, you want more with him than performing the coochie cha-cha?”

Mel shrugged. “He seems genuinely interested. Like I said, we’ll see.”

“If it pans out, great. If not, still great because you got laid, girl!”

“The reason I’m telling you is, he’ll be stopping by later. Don’t charge him a cover or take his phone.”
