Mr. Broad Shoulders snorted again while a burst of laughter came from Mr. Dark Eyes.

“He’s very dedicated to pleasing the ladies,” Mr. S & P said with a smirk.

She ignored the sexual innuendo. “He did a great job doing so last week and I’m sure he’ll do the same tonight.” She pulled in a long breath. “Well, gentlemen, I’ll leave you to enjoy the rest of your night. I’m MJ, by the way. I’ll be around, so if you need anything, just ask.”

Mr. S & P tipped his head and blinded her with his smile. “Great to meet you, MJ. And thank you.”

She gave them a nod and headed toward the not as handsome or hot Mutt. The prospect sure didn’t smell as good as that testosterone rich trio, either.

For the rest of the show, Mel ended up staying behind the bar with Mutt to make sure he wasn’t screwing up the drink orders too badly. While there, she kept her eyes scanning both the floor and the stage to make sure the event was going smoothly.

Occasionally, her gaze would land on the back table to make sure Danny’s three friends were behaving themselves.

She sipped at a rum and Coke she made for herself while dancer after dancer took their turn on stage, did their sexy routine and then disappeared backstage once finished. Like last week, Blaze was the last dancer to do his individual routines.

Also like last week, he nailed it. And, of course, just like last week, the women went wild and tipped him well.

She watched him carefully to see if he acknowledged his friends’ attendance in any way, but he never looked once in their direction. She assumed he didn’t know they were there, even though, from where she was behind the bar, it was hard to miss them hooting and hollering the whole time Blaze performed his routines.

By the time those deep voices reached the stage, they most likely got lost in the sea of high-pitched squeals, screams and shrieks.

Maybe it was better he didn’t know. That could affect his performance.

When Mel first started dancing, some guys she graduated with from high school came into The Peach Pit. They were just as surprised to see her as she them. Unfortunately, she ended up being more self-conscious about dancing that night than ever before. Getting naked in front of strangers or regular customers was one thing, friends, family or classmates was quite another.

She was relieved none of them had requested a private lap dance. If they had, she most likely would’ve quit on the spot so she wouldn’t die from embarrassment.

The more time she spent on stage and the more experienced she became, the less she cared about who watched. More importantly, learning to give zero fucks about judgmental people was freeing.

After the Peckers’ final group routine, she waited a bit to give the guys enough time to get dressed before worming her way through the throng of women leaving. She wanted to check in with Nick before the manager left for the night and maybe even have a few words with Danny.

But before she could reach her destination, he appeared out on the floor already dressed. She might not have spotted him at all if he didn’t stand head and shoulders taller than most of the women completely circling him and clamoring for his attention.

He had the same type of smile plastered onto his face that she wore when she talked to his friends.

She stood out of the way and waited patiently for him to finish interacting with the women but as he was chatting, his eyes scanned the room and landed on the back corner table where his friends still sat. Since the lights had been turned up and the crowd had thinned, it was now easier for him to see them.

The manufactured customer service smile he’d been wearing while dealing with his “fans” turned into a very real grimace. Then she heard boisterous laughter coming from their table.

She decided to save him from the thirsty women and approached the pack.

“Thank you for coming tonight, ladies. Keep an eye on our website for future shows.” She jutted her hand above her head and waved Sapphire over. “Sapphire will see you out. I hope you enjoyed the show and please be careful heading home.”

Sapphire came over, rounded them up and herded them toward the exit, even though it took some strong prodding.

When it was finally only the two of them, she announced, “Your friends are here,” as if he wasn’t already aware.

“Yeah, I see that,” he mumbled with a frown now turning down the corners of his lips and creasing his brow.

“I assume you didn’t know they were coming.”

“I… did… not,” he drew out, shooting a glare across the club to his friends’ table.

Taking a quick glance over her shoulder, she noticed the three men grinning and waving at Danny. The one in the middle even blew him a kiss.
