Damn stubborn woman.

When they got home, he planned to send her to bed, eat her out until she came a time or six, then when she was swimming in post-orgasmic bliss, get her to take some damn Oxy.

It killed him to watch her suffer. He wasn’t above some good ol’ sexual manipulation to get results.

“You’re a shit liar,” he whispered in her ear.

Her narrow-eyed gaze swung his way. “You better hope not,” she whispered back.

Jinx snorted from the front seat. “She’s got you there, bro.”

Considering their plan for Andrew involved some serious deception, they had a point. Still, he flipped Jinx off.

“Okay, look,” Jo placed her hand over his where it rested on her thigh.

Ever since she’d come home from the hospital, he felt a noose tightening around his neck if she was out of touching distance. Luckily for him, she seemed to need to feel him just as much.

“My leg hurts like a sonofabitch, and my side aches like hell. I’m tired, cranky, and kinda hungry. Happy now?”

He chuckled. “No, baby, I’ll be happy if you take your damn meds.”

Jo sighed. “I know. It’s just, with all the overdoses and what happened to Lock’s sister, I feel squeamish about taking narcotics.”

Christ, he loved this woman. Who else would think about the situation that way? No one but Jo. “Baby, he whispered, kissing the side of her head. “This scenario isn’t even on the same planet as what happened to Lock’s sister. Please take your meds.”

“Seriously, Jo,” Jinx said from the front seat. “Cut the guy a break. It’s fucking killing him to watch you be in pain and not be able to do shit about it.”

He hadn’t planned on telling her that. The last thing she needed was guilt, but Jinx’s lack of filter seemed to do the trick.

Jo frowned. “I’ll take a pill when we get home, okay?”

Blowing out a huge breath of relief, Tracker nodded. “Thank you.” He kissed her, loving the way she melted against him. The fact she was so strong and capable yet allowed herself to be soft with him made him hard as fuck.

When they ended the kiss, he caught Jinx’s eye in the rearview mirror. His brother winked. Tracker should have known she’d take the pill for him rather than herself.

Damn stubborn woman.

The love of his fucking life.

They made the rest of the trip with Jo’s head resting on his shoulder. Curly navigated, and fifteen minutes later, they slowed to a stop down the street from a dilapidated cabin. Palm fronds and other yard debris littered the lawn. The windows remained boarded. Andrew hadn’t bothered to begin cleaning after the hurricane, if he was actually there at all.

“What do you think?” Curly asked, peering out the windshield.

“It’s a dump. Do you guys think he’s even in there?” Jo asked.

Tracker shrugged. “Guess we’re about to find out. Jinx can you get closer? This is too far for Jo on crutches.”

“No, no, I’m fine,” she said, voice final.

For fuck’s sake. “Jo, it’s a hundred fucking feet, at least. You can’t…”

She pressed her palm over his mouth. “I can, and I will. I promise I will take medicine and lie in bed for the rest of the day tomorrow too. But I can do this. I need to do this.”

Closure. She needed closure. And the protection of not having to worry about Andrew any longer. How could Tracker deny her those?

He sighed. “Fine. But I’m kicking that door down the second something seems wrong. You hear me?” he asked as he tapped the wire they’d attached to the front of her bra. It synced with an app on Tracker’s phone. He was taking zero chances with Jo’s safety this time.

“I hear you.” She leaned in and kissed him. “And I love you.”

“Can I get some sugar too?” Jinx puckered his lips and bobbed his eyebrows.

“You can kiss my ass.” Jo smirked at him.

“Don’t…” But Tracker was too late.

“Any time, darlin’. Any time.”

“You’ll be kissing my fist long before you get near her ass,” Tracker muttered.

They all laughed, which ended up being more necessary than he’d realized. With the tension cut, Tracker helped Jo out of the SUV. Once certain her crutches were positioned properly and she’d found her balance, he kissed her.

“You be fucking careful.”

“I will. Don’t worry. You’re right out here, and you’ll be listening.”

“Bet your ass we’ll be listening. Swear to Christ, Jo, I won’t hesitate to kick the door in and lay that fucker out with a bullet to the brain if I’m even the slightest bit uncomfortable with how it’s going.”

“Tracker, I get it. I’m not going to do anything reckless, okay?” She kissed him. “Fifteen minutes, tops, then we’ll be on our way home. To bed.” She winked.

“Don’t try and sway me with sex. It won’t work.”

It totally would.

She snorted. “It would definitely work, but I was referring to my promise to put my leg up and lie down.”
