“I don’t work out often,” Lucy admits and bites her lip. “But maybe I’ll find time to hop on a treadmill now and then.”

“We have trainers,” London says as we step off the elevator and make our way to the double glass doors that lead to the gym. “In case you need extra motivation.”

Although gym is too simple a term for it.

“There are also locker room facilities for both men and women, so feel free to snag one of the empty lockers and keep your things in there so you don’t have to haul it back and forth from home.” London smiles and waves at Jill, the manager of the training facilities, who happens to be manning the front desk. “Jill will get you set up with the appropriate credentials on your employee badge so you can just swipe on through.”

“Happy to,” Jill says, smiling at Lucy. “Welcome.”

“Thanks.” Lucy’s smile is at least a thousand watts. “This place is amazing.”

“We’re a professional sports team,” I remind her with a wink. “It had better be.”

“I’ll take your badge and load it with all the goodies while you get the tour,” Jill says, accepting Lucy’s shiny new card when it’s passed to her. “And if you ever have any questions, just find someone wearing these stylish blue polo shirts. We’re the training staff.”

“Thanks,” Lucy says again as we walk away.

“There’s a pool, sauna, and hot tub,” I begin as I lead the two women into what I consider my domain. I spend several hours every single day in here. “All the cardio machines you could ever want, along with weight machines or free weights. There are spin classes, yoga classes, and even physical therapy, should you ever need it.”

“Basically,” London adds, “if you so much as have a crick in your neck, feel free to come in and have it worked on.”

“Wow,” Lucy breathes.

“You can make appointments with a massage therapist, acupuncturist, or chiropractor. Do you need someone to talk to? We also have a psychologist that you’re welcome to see.”

“Do all these things come out of my check? Or will I be billed?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I should have been clear,” London says with a smile. “There’s no charge for any of this. It’s part of your benefits package.”

Lucy’s mouth opens and then closes again. “Holy shit, the person before me really messed up.” Then her eyes go wide. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to say that out loud.”

London just laughs and nods. “You’re right. She messed up. I don’t think I’ll have the same issue with you.”

“No, ma’am.”

Once we’ve made the rounds through the facility, and Lucy’s had the opportunity to meet several of the players who have stopped in for training, we run into Ike Harrison, our superstar quarterback.

And cousin-in-law.

“Lucy?”

“Hey, Ike. Congrats on the win yesterday. You killed it.”

Now London simply laughs. “Do I employ your entire family?”

“Only about five percent of it,” I inform her with a grin as Lucy and Ike catch up. “I know you didn’t do this as a favor to my family, but thanks. She’ll do a good job for you.”

“I had absolutely nothing to do with it. Sherry in HR hired her. She got this job on her own merit.”

“I know that means a lot to her,” I reply, watching as Lucy and Ike share a laugh. “I’m having dinner with my family tonight, but will you be in your office this afternoon? I’d like to pop in and say hello when we’re not surrounded by a bunch of other people.”

“I’m having lunch brought in around one. Why don’t you join me?”

“I can make that work.” I nod and shove my hands into my pockets so that I don’t reach out for her. She’s dressed in another power suit, red this time, and it stirs things in me. Her hair, dark and short, skims the neckline and begs for my fingers to run through it.

I want to kiss her and feel her against me.

“Let’s move on, shall we?” London says to Lucy, completely pulling me out of my reverie.

“I’m ready when you are,” Lucy assures her.

“I’ll see you later,” London says to me and smiles softly before leading Lucy away.

All I can do is stand here, feet planted and hands in my pockets, and watch them go. London’s ass sways enticingly in that tight skirt.

“You okay?” Ike asks as he steps beside me.

“I’m fine. You?”

“Oh, I’m great. You have a weird look on your face, my man.” Ike claps his hand on my shoulder.

I raise an eyebrow and turn to him. “Is that so? What kind of weird look?”

“A gooey, lovesick look. I should know. I get that same look whenever I see my gorgeous wife.”

“I don’t want to know the perverted thoughts that go through your head when you see my cousin.”

I glance over, and he’s just grinning at me.
