“These are the bedrooms,” I say as I step into the first one. It looks like a twelve-year-old boy’s room with all of the hockey crap all over the place. Every inch of the walls are plastered with Hyenas posters.

“Obviously you can rip all of these ugly posters off,” I say with a chuckle.

He laughs to himself. “Are you a hockey fan?”

“Oh, god no,” I say with a laugh. “Sometimes we have it on the TV at the bar where I work—I mean, where I frequent with a… clients. But no, I don’t watch it. It’s not my thing.”

Austin walks into the room and looks around at the posters. He points to a big one and smiles. “He’s kind of good-looking.”

My body slumps with a disappointed sigh. Damn it. He’s gay.

I should have known that perfect, available men like him don’t exist without a catch.

He’s still smiling as he walks back into the hallway.

I have a sad smile on my face that I’m trying to make happy as he walks past me.

Might as well see what kind of guy he’s into.

I step up to the wall and look at the poster.

Holy. Shit.

It’s him.

Those piercing brown eyes are staring back at me.

His name is even written on top.

Austin Gambill #9.

It finally clicks. I thought that name sounded familiar. I must have overheard some people at the bar mention it while the hockey game was on.

He’s the rookie!

Now my heart is really pounding as I plaster on a smile, head for the hallway, and get back to work.

CHAPTER FIVE

Austin

“Did I say I’m not a hockey fan?” Norah says as she walks out of the bedroom with her adorable cheeks burning a crimson red. “I love hockey.”

I give her a look and she starts laughing. I do too.

“Oh really? Since when?”

“Since I found out my best client is the star player of the San Antonio Hyenas.”

“I’m hardly the star player.”

“You’re good enough to be on a poster in some random kid’s room,” she says. “I’d say that’s pretty good.”

I smile. “Thank you.”

“It’s pretty cool,” she says. “A professional hockey player. Congratulations.”

“For what?”

“For making your dreams come true. Not many people can do that.”

I have a new dream to make come true. I want her.

She’s perfect. This house is perfect.

I want to lock the doors and live in here with her forever.

“How about we check out that master bedroom?” she says as she walks down the hallway, wobbling on those high heels. She’s fucking adorable.

I can’t take my eyes off her.

She turns into the room and my eyes drop to her ass. I fight back a groan when I see her round cheeks swaying under those gray pants.

I’ve never reacted to a girl like this before.

This is a first for me.

I’ve had beautiful girls throwing themselves at me for years all throughout high school and college, but I was too focused on hockey to do anything about it.

Getting to the NHL was all that mattered to me. It was the only thing I focused on. It was the only thing I cared about.

I think the girls treated it as a game—who could get me in their bed first—but I never gave any of them the satisfaction.

I went to bed early, I got up early, and I trained. Over and over, I trained.

Hockey was the only thing on my mind.

Until now.

When Norah opened the door and I saw her scream and duck away from that parrot, I knew she was the one. I knew she was different.

She’s hilarious and beautiful and sexy and smart.

Once in a lifetime—if you’re lucky—you’ll meet someone that you instantly connect with. That you feel like you’ve known forever. That you know you can’t let get away.

Norah is that kind of girl.

Norah is that girl.

I can see her back home in my parents’ kitchen, laughing with my mom and two sisters, and teasing my dad. She’d fit right in. I already know my family would love her.

“Check this out,” she says as I follow her into the huge master bedroom. “Relaxing in front of this fireplace after a game, huh? Doesn’t that sound nice? And look at this bed.”

I swallow hard as we both stare at it. Her back stiffens.

The sexual tension in the air is so thick you can taste it.

We’re the only two people in the house. We could test out that bed and no one would know.

An image of her dropping onto the mattress while staring up at me with those sexy blue eyes pops into my head.

Fuuccckkk.

I have to be careful or something is going to pop out of my pants.

Her eyes dart to mine and there’s something in them. A sensuality? A need? A hunger? Whatever it is, it’s got my heart thumping.

“And this bathroom,” she says darting away with her cheeks blushing. “Look at this gorgeous en suite.”
