“Good.” I thumped him on his snout affectionately and then jumped up on top of his head myself. In moments I was running along his spine and throwing my leg over his neck. The Princess was settled behind me and Krynn was behind her—keeping her between us was the best way to be sure she’d be safe while we were flying.
Brulish spread his enormous, sail-like wings and flapped downward, stirring up a bevy of mini-dust devils and rustling the branches of the trees loudly. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, I thought. Anyone living near the house would think the high winds caused by the Drake’s wings were part of the terrible lightning storm which had tragically killed Princess Lilliana’s ex-mate.
I shook my head when I thought of the limp corpse I’d incinerated with my lightning. There hadn’t been a single drop of blood left in that body—the Princess had taken it all.
That would have been you—you and Krynn both, whispered a little voice in my head. I knew it was right. The Thirst had been riding Princess Lilliana hard—it wasn’t surprising that she’d lost control and killed during her first Quenching. The only thing that did surprise me was the fact that she’d had enough control to run away from me and Krynn instead of biting us and draining us in the Quenching Parlor. Truly, she was something special.
I couldn’t help remembering though, how I had both dreaded and longed for her bite. My cock throbbed when I thought of how she’d been rubbing against me, sliding her soft, wet pussy up and down my rigid length as her sharp white fangs skated dangerously along my throat…
“Watch out! She’s falling!” I heard Krynn shout behind me.
“What?” I threw an arm behind me instinctively and felt the soft curvy body of the Princess. Her skin was hot—nearly burning against my hand.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” I demanded, turning my head to try and look over my shoulder. I saw that she was slumped over to one side and Krynn had his arms locked around her middle, trying to keep her upright.
“I don’t know!” he shouted back. It was hard to be heard with the wind whistling through our ears due to the speed of Brulish’s flight.
“Well just hold on to her!” I called. “We’re nearly back to the Palace now.”
It was a damn good thing the big Drake was so fast. A few minutes later, he landed in the Royal Nesting Grounds and settled heavily to the ground.
“Down!” I told him but he seemed to have sensed that something was wrong because he was already resting his chin on the ground almost before I gave the command.
Immediately, I turned all the way around and saw that the Princess seemed to be completely unconscious.
“What happened to her?” I demanded.
Krynn shook his head, his face twisted with worry.
“I don’t know—she just collapsed. Almost fell off mid-air!”
“Thank Lolth you caught her,” I growled. “Come on, we should get her back to the Palace. Should we chance the Healer?”
Krynn shook his head.
“Not unless there’s no other way. Remember, the Palace Healer is in Mordren’s pocket.” He frowned and put a hand to the Princess’s cheek. “Gods, she’s burning up!”
“Let’s get her back to the Cavern,” I suggested. “We can put her in a cold bath—maybe that will help.”
“Maybe.” Krynn looked troubled as he rose and lifted the Princess into his arms. “I think I’d better fly her down,” he said to me. “Can you help me free my wings?”
We both knew that if any of the High Fae saw his wings he would be punished, but I also knew he didn’t care. The Princess was what was important now—not offending the Nobles of the Midnight Court.
I pulled down his robes in the back, letting his wings spring forth. After a few moments of flapping, they were strong enough to bear weight. Holding the Princess in his arms, Krynn stepped lightly off the Drake’s back and glided gracefully to the ground.
I ran down Brulish’s spine and jumped off his head. Reaching up, I scratched one of his scaly eye-ridges.
“You did well,” I told him, which made him snort with pleasure, blowing streams of hot breath around my knees. I scratched him once more. “Go hunting and eat well, friend. I have to be with the Princess now.”
Brulish gave another snort of understanding and raised his huge head up on its long neck. As I reached Krynn, who still had Princess Lilliana cradled in his arms, the enormous Drake took off once more, the force of his wings blowing air everywhere and making speech impossible for a moment.
“Here—let me take her while you put away your wings,” I said to Krynn, when Brulish had lifted off and it was possible to be heard again.
He handed her to me and I frowned at how hot her curvy body felt in my arms.
