I glanced down at myself and panicked, covering my junk. “Shit, sorry!” To be fair, it was nothing new for her to see. I’d been thinking more about the afternoon in my apartment than I’d like to admit. It was my new favorite memory.

“What’s going on? I heard a scream!” Lisa said, hurrying into the bedroom to find me standing in the bathroom with my hands covering my junk and Holly soaking wet in the tub.

“Mom! Get out!” she hollered in a state of panic.

I shot behind the bathroom door to hide, knowing that Lisa got more of a view than she wanted.

“Oh my goodness! Sorry! Sorry! I didn’t see anything!” Lisa shouted. “Well, I saw something, but I’m pretending I didn’t so this doesn’t become weird!”

I was never going to live that moment down.

“You two continue doing what you were doing,” Lisa said. “I’m gone. But, next time, Holly, you should take your clothes off before getting in the shower.”

“Oh my gosh, Mom!” Holly groaned. “Shut the door behind you!”

I stepped out from behind the door when I heard Lisa leave the bedroom. Holly looked at me, and I noticed her eyes drop to my lower region for a few seconds before she looked up at me with a bashful stare.

“I should get out of your way,” she said as she stepped out of the tub, dripping with water.

“We could always shower together to save the planet,” I joked, knowing I was making her blush.

For a split second, it looked as if she was considering it before she said, “Shut up, Kai.” She hurried past me, covering her eyes.

“You can look if you want. I’m not shy.”

“It appears not a single part of you is shy,” she commented, nodding down toward my pride and joy, who was fully awake for the exchange.

“What can I say? It wanted to say good morning to you.”

“It’s not even eight in the morning, and we are talking about your penis. I need coffee.”

“I can give you some of my creamer if you’re—”

“Kai!” Holly shouted, her face completely beet red.

I snickered and tossed my hands into the air. “Okay, okay, too far. Noted.”

“Hands back down!” Holly said, not before her eyes darted down once more. “Hands back down!”

I did as she said, and she hurried away to get out of her wet clothing.

A part of me wished she would’ve taken me up on the showering together option.

I wouldn’t have hated a second of that possibility.

After the uncomfortable situation that morning, Holly’s mom couldn’t stop blushing whenever she saw me. After getting a view that morning, I’d even overheard her say to her daughter that she understood my appeal.

I was humiliated yet also…flattered?

I was thankful Phil didn’t witness the incident. I was half nervous he would pull out his triple black belt for being caught nude in his house with his daughter. The last thing I wanted to do was die a few days before Christmas due to a misunderstanding.

“Are you dressed?” Holly asked, walking back into the bedroom as she covered her eyes with the palm of her hand.

I chuckled a little. “You’re safe. I’ll remain dressed for the remainder of the day.”

“Good. Okay. Hi.” She placed her hands on her hips. “It’s time for me to give you your Christmas present.”

“Christmas isn’t for another two days.”

“Yes, but this one has to happen today.” She pulled out a wrapped box from her suitcase and held it toward me. “Merry Christmas, Kai.”

I arched an eyebrow. “What is it?”

“The whole point of a Christmas gift is to open it to find out what it is.” She waved her hand. “Come on, now. Get to it. Open it!”

I began unwrapping the present and opened up the box. I snickered a little, shaking my head as I pulled out a jersey with my first and last name on the back. “A football jersey?”

“You said you never had a chance to play football in high school as you wanted, so I figured now we can do that. Starting with your jersey. I got one, too!” She pulled out a jersey with her first and last name on the back. “So, put it on. We have to get going. My parents are already on their way there. Alec and MJ are supposed to drive with us.”

“On their way where?”

“To the nearby football field. My dad set it up for us to play for a few hours. It’s supposed to start snowing later tonight, so we have to—”

“You rented out a football field for me?”

“Yeah. The high school football field. Dad coaches there. It’s not a big deal.” She was wrong. It was a big deal to me. The biggest deal. She started for the door. “Come on, let’s—"

I grabbed her forearm and pulled her toward me. “Holly, wait.”

Her stare fell to my touch, and then she rose her head. “Yes?”
