I took a deep breath and threw on a pair of gym shorts before walking out of my room. It was almost three thirty in the morning, so I didn’t think anyone would be up. Everyone had left over an hour ago.

“Brady,” I exclaimed.

Not Brady.

Tru.

Dripping wet.

She froze.

I froze.

Droplets of water slid down her body, between her perfect breasts, and continued their journey across her belly button until resting between her thighs, only to slide down her legs.

“Oh hell.” I didn’t mean to say it out loud.

Her eyes narrowed.

Mine homed in again on her tight little body.

Unable to hold back, I asked in a hard tone, “What the hell are you doing in here?”

“What does it look like, asshole? I was taking a shower.”

“This isn’t your bathroom.”

“No shit, Sherlock. I didn’t want to use ours and run into you. Brady left with his girlfriend, and he said I could use his shower.”

“Who the hell takes a shower at this time?” Panic took over at how beautiful she was.

She gestured toward my wet hair with a smirk. “Obviously, you do.”

Despite holding a towel, she didn’t use it to cover herself.

“Are you going to cover your tits, or am I going to continue trying to look at your face when I really want to bury mine between your legs?”

With a slight gasp, she moved her legs forward like she had no choice but to come to me, and all I could think was yes, come. Please. Be my fucking guest.

“That can’t come as a shock to you, Cinderella. Your body has always been one of my favorite things about you.” I left out everything else that made her important to me because it felt too real. I knew if I acknowledged why I fell for her, I’d fall even harder and wouldn’t survive.

“My body was the only thing you were ever interested in,” she deadpanned.

“Whatever you have to tell yourself.” I shrugged and crossed my arms.

She bit down on her bottom lip like she wished she was causing physical harm to me. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Good for you.”

“I was just pissed.”

“That makes two of us,” she snapped.

After sucking in another sharp breath, I took one giant step toward her, then had her by the hair, tugging her aggressively against my chest.

Close to her lips, I rasped, “Is this what you want?”

Her breasts were pressed against my chest.

And my mind was running wild.

Especially after I just fist fucked my dick to images of her.

She didn’t hesitate to shove me away.

“Stop,” I ordered, grabbing her wrists.

“You stop it.”

“Is that what you really want?”

She swallowed hard.

“You,” I harshly stated. “Piss me off.”

Tru got up on her tiptoes, her dark hair soaked against her cheeks, and whispered against my neck, “Get lost.”

“Get damaged,” I snapped.

She taunted, “Damage me, then.”

I didn’t have to be told twice.

I shoved her arms above her head and slammed my mouth against hers in a way I hoped would be more punishing than rewarding. Instead, it just brought it all back—not just the memories, but the feeling of being owned by her.

It was terrifying.

She was terrifying.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and raked her nails down my back in an angry yet forceful way as I shoved her against the tile harder and more demanding. She dug her nails in deeper as our mouths fought for dominance.

The moment between us was over far too soon.

With a sincere expression, she breathed out, “I don’t want to be your sloppy seconds.”

“You’ll be my sloppy firsts then.” I kissed her again.

Except this time, she fought my kiss at every turn…

When I deepened it, she pulled back.

When I invaded, she retreated.

When I pressed forward with my body, she heaved her breasts against my chest.

I wouldn’t survive this, and I hated her more for it.

I hated her.

She hated me.

I had no clue what was happening.

Maybe it was just our bodies talking since we could not do it on our own. Words were useless when you were dead inside over someone who broke your heart, but your body remembered.

It remembered everything.

Muscle memory be damned.

“Bet…” She smiled. “You walk away with the biggest set of blue balls from just kissing me.”

“Bet.” I smirked. “You walk away so wet, you use your fingers in order to get the job done, but sadly fail because it isn’t my dick getting you off.”

“Bet,” we said in unison.

I pulled away first, and I couldn’t help but notice how swollen her lips were from my assault. She noticed, looking away, then wiped her lips with the back of her arm.

“You can’t wipe away our past, Tru.”

Backing away, I simply added…

“Trust me, I’ve been trying to for years.”

CHAPTER 9

TRU

Then: A week later

He was so stupid handsome I wanted to slap him, but what made it worse was he could talk circles around anyone and charm anything with a pulse. He genuinely knew it was a gift from the universe.
