She giggles. “Well, damn, when you put it like that . . .”

“Come on, Selena! It’ll be fun!”

She twists her mouth, considering my proposal.

“Think of this as a favor to me!” I insist. “I’d love to see this prick’s arrogant face when he realizes what’s good for the gander is good for the goose—especially when the goose is the goddess he treated like fucking shit!”

Selena knits her brows together. “Only if you’re positive you wouldn’t feel, I dunno, used and abused by me doing this. You’re not some kind of trophy boy toy to me, Grayson. You know that, right?”

I laugh. “What do you mean I’m not your trophy boy toy? How dare you!”

She laughs. “You’re so funny, Grayson. Okay, let’s do it.”

I fist-pump the air. “Woohoo!”

“But let’s not eat a meal there. I don’t want to be around him that long. We’ll go to the bar area in the back to have a cocktail, and then leave and go somewhere else for dinner.”

“Love it.”

“I truly don’t need or want his approval or opinion about a goddamned thing anymore. I’ve moved on. I want to make it clear I’m doing this solely for our entertainment value—so we can laugh about it together, later on, after you’ve ‘railed’ me, brilliantly, for the umpteenth time.”

“Sounds fucking awesome to me. Although, come on, nobody ever ‘moves on’ enough from their cheating, lying, douchebag of an ex to the point where they wouldn’t appreciate them knowing they’re having much hotter sex with the next guy.”

Selena snickers. “Well, that’s true.”

“But I get what you’re saying and I’m down to do this, for entertainment value, if nothing else.” I take her hand and kiss it enthusiastically, and then leap off the bed like a man possessed. “Come on, baby. Pull your dress down, muss your hair a little so it looks like you just got fucked, and take your trophy boy toy out for a drink!”

Selena stands, runs her fingers through her thick, dark hair, and extends her palm to me. “My undies, please.”

I shake my head. “Nope. They’re mine now.”

“What?”

I wink and grin. “It’ll be extra hot for both of us to know your pussy is secretly bare under there, as we sit at the bar, enjoying a cocktail mere feet away from your ex, knowing the whole time that controlling bastard is losing his goddamned fucking mind.”

GRAYSON

After parking my car down the block from the restaurant, I jog around the back bumper to open the passenger door for Selena. Before exiting the car, she flips up the hem of her dress and briefly flashes me a quick but delightful glimpse of her panty-less pussy, before taking my offered hand and exiting from the car like the Queen of England arriving at a royal engagement.

“That was hot,” I mutter. “Thank you.”

Laughing, Selena comes to a stand next to me on the sidewalk and bats her eyelashes playfully. “What can I say? I’m a freak in the sheets and a lady in the streets.”

“You’re the gold standard for that particular expression, as a matter of fact. How am I going to walk on three legs the full block to the restaurant?”

She giggles. “Soldier on, young buck. I have faith in you.”

“That was so fucking sexy,” I mutter, entwining my fingers in hers. “You’re incredible, Selena.”

Our hands intertwined, we begin walking the short distance to the restaurant. And even though I know it’s silly, I can’t help feeling like a fucking king to be seen out in public with her, holding her hand. To be able to walk down the sidewalk with this elegant, sensual, vivacious woman as my date, knowing everyone we pass can clearly see she’s picked me, out of all the men in the world, at least for tonight.

When we reach our destination, there appears to be a long wait for a table, based on the large, scattered crowd milling about.

“This place is a real hot spot, eh?” I observe.

Selena rolls her eyes. “Andre would never deign to dine at a cute little hole-in-the-wall.” She peeks through a window of the restaurant. “He’s here. His back is facing us, but I’d know that head anywhere.”

A wave of excitement ripples through me. “You’re still good to do this?”

Selena returns from the window to smile wickedly at me. “Actually, now that we’re here, I must admit I’m chomping at the bit to see the look on his face when he sees me with you.”

“Same. Let’s make it really clear we’re not merely friends.”

“Absolutely.”

After stealing a quick kiss, I open the door for Selena, and we head inside the packed restaurant. When the hostess greets us, Selena hugs her, introduces her to me as Kelsey, her good friend’s daughter, and lets the young woman know we won’t be needing a table tonight, that we’re headed back to the bar for a cocktail. The woman asks Selena if she’s aware her ex is already dining here, and Selena says, “Yes, your mom sent me the photo. We’re going to walk past him on our way to the bar and have a little fun with him.” With that, she grabs my hand again and leads me into the crowded restaurant.
