Logan Wolfe is the crush I thought I’d left behind. We shared a single kiss so greedy and hot that I ran off to college. I’ve finally returned home, and now he won’t let go.

I'm ready for a new beginning at my dream job as a copywriter, where Logan Wolfe, my brother’s best friend, is my boss. Despite our working relationship, our texts take a steamy, taboo turn.

Once we start, we can’t stop. When Logan sees something he wants, he takes it. He’s tall, handsome, grumpy, and, most importantly, off-limits. Giving into the texting temptation would mean breaking my big brother’s heart.

Now, he’s made an enemy of the mob. “I’m going to protect you,” he growls... like I have a say in it.

As work and drama throw us closer together, my brother’s suspicions get harder to ignore. Soon, we won’t be able to hide it.

The romance and desire in our texts will be our ruin.

* Texting Mr. Wolfe is an insta-everything, OTT, standalone romance with a HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger

PROLOGUE

PIPER

Three Years Ago

“I’m going to miss you so much,” Ruby yells in my ear over the thumping music.

I smile as excitement swirls around me. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel some sadness, too. I’m almost nineteen, ready to go off to college and delve into the world of English literature. However, it means leaving San Francisco, my home, my best friend, and my brother behind.

“We’re going to talk all the time,” I reply.

She puts her arm around me. “I just can’t believe I knew the one and only Piper Blake before she became the great American novelist.”

“Ha ha,” I mutter.

There’s a lot wrong with that. Thinking about writing makes me nervous. So, how am I going to do an entire course on literature? But I can’t ignore my dreams just because I’m scared.

Ruby gestures across the garden, where Logan is talking with Elliot. Elliot’s my big brother; he saved me from a rough situation when I was a kid. Then basically raised me. Logan is his best friend, and he’s—

Well, he’s Logan, and he’s always been there. He’s tall and handsome, with silver hair that catches the setting sunlight. He wears a tight-fitting shirt that leaves little to the imagination as it hugs his hulking muscles. His piercing blue eyes threaten to turn me to mush.

“I think it’s time you finally declared your love to your crush. He was casually looking over here a few minutes ago, if I’m not mistaken,” she says with a grin.

“Ruby,” I hiss. “Don’t.”

She frowns. “Sorry. I was only kidding.”

“It’s not funny.”

“Seriously, I’m sorry. I’m a douche. But it really did seem like he was looking this way.”

I touch her arm. “It’s okay. You’re my douche. I’m going to see if there’s anything left on the buffet table.”

I leave the garden and walk into the house. Party streamers hang from the ceiling. It’s quiet here. While I’m the only one inside, I take a few deep breaths, enjoying the calm of the moment.

Soon, I’ll be on my adventure away at college.

The buffet table has been well and truly raided when I reach it.

I turn to leave the room and walk right into a wall of muscle. A sizzling tension dances over my body when I realize it’s Logan. When I back up, I trip, almost falling, but he grabs me. He sinks his powerful hands into my hips and holds me in place like they belong there.

His blues stare with hunger as his touch sinks deeper, sending more aching signals over my body. He’s in his thirties, experienced, drawing the gaze of every woman he walks past.

He stares at me like none of that matters, like I’m the only one he wants.

“Uh, sorry,” I mutter.

“No, I’m sorry…”

Am I dreaming?

Time slows as he leans down. His warm breath shimmers over my face as heat rises to my cheeks. Then his lips are on mine. Passion blazes in me as I wrap my arms around him, apparently not caring or remembering that Elliot could walk in at any moment.

Logan groans, slipping his hands down to my ass and lifting me off my feet. He puts me on the buffet table. Plates fall to the floor as he presses against my sex with his solid length, giving me a preview of what would happen if…

If what? If I screwed my brother’s best friend here, now?

What am I doing?

When I put my hand on his chest and softly push him, he makes a groaning noise and takes a step back. His lips are red from the kiss. His expression is wild. It’s like he’s just woken from a dream. Ditto.

“What was that?” I gasp.

“I… Fuck, Piper. I don’t know. You just look so damn beautiful. You feel…” He shakes his head.

I hop down from the table, adjusting my shirt and glancing at the door. “That can never happen again,” I hiss, knowing I’m lying to myself on some level.

I want it. I want more.

“I wish I could do it all,” I snap out loud. “Be a good sister. Be with you. B-but I can’t. Where did that even come from? Are you drunk?”

“I’m not drunk,” he snarls. “It’s just… you.”

“So it’s my fault?”

“I didn’t plan this.”

“Forget it ever happened.”

His hands tremble as he takes a step toward me. I know he wants to touch me again. Can he tell that I want him too? “I won’t be able to forget. But I’ll bury it deep, Piper. I’ll push it down. I’ll pretend it never happened.”

“Good,” I snap, almost running into the hallway.

I look at myself in the mirror. My cheeks are flushed, and my lips red.

Did that seriously just happen?

CHAPTER 1

LOGAN

“Keep up,” Elliot teases when I narrowly miss my shot. “I thought you youngsters would have more grit in you.”

“Ah, yes,” I say sarcastically. “An entire year has given me athletic prowess you can’t even dream of.”
