“I want . . .” he breathed, his breath husky as he withheld a moan. “I want to make you scream.”

My eyes shot open, and as if he’d cued himself, he flipped us back over. I squealed in surprise but giggled, his hungry gaze drawing out something foreign from within me. I’d never thought a stranger could give me such pleasure. I never thought I’d find such bliss. But right now, at this moment, it was only him and me, and as he thrust into me over and over, I wanted nothing more in the world.

“Ryan,” I breathed, sucking in a breath when his mouth captured my nipple. He nibbled tenderly, but his teeth teased and taunted the tip until it was a hard nub. I moaned, unable to open my eyes for fear that the sensation would dissipate. I bucked, his member pressing against my walls and sending a painful pleasure straight to my core.

Rough hands pulled my wrists up, and he held them with one hand. I resisted only for a moment, but he held firm, and I squirmed as my body weakened to his will. I exhaled his name on my breath. He wanted me to scream. But as his mouth returned to my nipple and his free hand pinched my other one, I couldn’t find the air in my lungs to let one out.

He sped up his pace, pumping short but quickly, and I struggled in his grip as my hands instinctively wanted to brace against his shoulders. Sweat had formed a thin layer on his arms and shoulders, a rivulet racing down his chest and beading on curled hair. He shoved in me again, and I moaned, my body trembling as I neared my release.

“Scream for me,” he said breathlessly, moaning with each shove in and out.

He nipped my neck, then my nipple, and I shrieked. I couldn’t breathe, stars dancing in my vision as I rode the waves of pleasure, then when he bit me again, I screamed and let the climax overcome me. I gripped him as his moans hitched, and when he called out, I shoved onto him once more before lifting off. The motion threw me over the edge. I screamed for him and me as the small room seemed large and endless with the sea of pleasure. His lips captured mine, and I groaned into his mouth as our tongues danced and mated while my mind fell slowly back to earth.

We didn’t speak after that; I didn’t have the energy or the words. I hadn’t been in a relationship in a while, nor had I sought pleasure with anyone. Something about this, though, felt different. Simple. As if we had a silent agreement that this was only a moment and that this moment was meant to last only for tonight. We weren’t friends or even lovers, but tonight we were all those things.

Tomorrow, we’d get on our planes and never see each other again, but the story we wrote that night still had a happy ending.

Chapter 2

Ryan

Sunlight blasted through the blinds, and I nearly shit myself. The clock radio on the nightstand read 7:30 am in angry red numbers. “Shit!”

I lurched from the bed. My flight was in ninety minutes, and I still had security to go through. I fumbled around for my stuff, finding my boxers outside the bathroom door and my clothes in the bathroom. I dressed, nearly toppling over putting on my socks and shoes. I’d brush my teeth at the airport, I decided, and stuffed my phone and wallet into my pocket before grabbing my suitcase and stopping short at the door.

She had a flight, too. I spun on my heel, trying and failing to remember when her flight was. Or even if she told me.

“Hey!” I called, blanking on her name, and she stirred. I couldn’t wait around, but I didn’t want to be a total ass, so I called out, “Hey, gotta go. It’s seven-thirty.”

“It’s what?” she said.

“Seven-thirty. I paused. “Last night was fun,” I added and left, letting the door click behind me. She was a sweet woman, but I hoped she knew last night wasn’t more than it was. Nothing I could do about it now.

The wheels on my suitcase ground against the thin carpet as I sped down the hallway, thankful to be in the airport hotel and counting down the minutes in my mind. I was downstairs in less than five minutes. I pulled my pre-printed boarding pass from the front pocket of my bag and walked quickly to the security line, exhaling a sigh of relief when the precheck line was open. I made my way through the motions, holding out my arms in the scanner before collecting my stuff on the other side of the belt.

It was nice to be going home for a few weeks. I’d made three trips in the past month, and my ex, Darlene would have plenty of fuel for her fire when I came to see my son, James. I thought about bringing her a peace offering and paused when I passed a store full of colorful souvenirs. I had time. I could at least get the little guy something before they called my flight. A large part of the store carried more varieties of candy than I could name, but I caught sight of a green tail sticking off a shelf and walked inside. James was going through a dinosaur phase. He had been when Darlene kicked me out, anyway. With my luck, he was already into something else, and Darlene would have some new ammunition to prove how unfit a dad I was.
