Emilio locked gazes with Henry and raised one eyebrow in question. The two of them were closer in age than their older siblings. They had shared a room until Emilio graduated high school and they had both moved out of their parents’ house. Those things meant they usually shared more with each other than with their other brothers, and definitely more than with their sister.

Henry was the first person Emilio had come out to, the one he had gone to when he had questions about beating off. And Emilio had stayed up late many nights, listening to Henry whisper details about his early sexual exploits. Being best friends with your brother meant there wasn’t a whole lot off-limits. But that didn’t mean they wanted to share with the rest of their siblings.

“Nothing,” they said simultaneously, and then they started giggling.

“What?” Martin asked. “Tell me.”

“Nothing, man, seriously,” Henry said.

“Yeah, you don’t wanna know,” Emilio agreed. “What’s up?”

“Tell me. You two are always whispering about stuff. I wanna know.”

Emilio laughed. “We weren’t whispering, Martin. We were just talkin’.”

“About what?” Martin crossed his arms over his chest, trying to look intimidating. It had stopped working on Emilio when he had outgrown Martin, along with his other brothers. It hadn’t ever worked on Henry.

“Nothin’ you’re interested in,” Henry said.

“I’m interested,” Martin insisted. “Come on, tell me.”

Knowing his brother well enough to realize he wasn’t going to back down, Emilio relented and said, “Blowjobs. You happy now?”

Martin looked around quickly. “What about them?”

Henry flicked his gaze to Emilio, his eyebrows raised in question. Emilio shrugged.

“What?” Martin demanded.

“Does Rosa swallow when she goes down on you?”

“What the fuck?” Martin shouted and smacked the back of Henry’s head. “That’s my wife you’re talking about!”

“Ow!” Henry rubbed the injured spot. “That’s why we don’t tell you shit, man! That hurt. Fuck.”

Martin scowled and turned his attention to Emilio, who reflexively jumped out of reach and threw his hands up.

“Chill out, man. You made us tell you!”

“Made you tell him what?” Raul asked as he walked up.

“Nothing,” the three other brothers answered in unison.

“What?” Raul asked, snapping his gaze from one of them to the other. “Tell me.”

“Man, it’s like a fucking rerun,” Emilio said.

“What does that mean?” Raul snapped.

“It means we already fell for this question with Martin, and then when I told him, he hit me!” Henry shouted.

“You hit Henry?” Raul asked, taking on his protective oldest brother tone.

“Don’t be such a pussy, Henry, it didn’t hurt,” Martin yelled.

“Why’d you hit him?” Raul demanded.

“’Cause he’s a perverted little fuck!” Martin answered.

“You having a flashback to when we were kids?” Emilio mock-whispered to Henry.

“Yeah,” Henry answered with a chuckle. “And you’re just as uptight now as you were then.” He lobbed the insult at Martin as he jumped back, making sure there was plenty of space between them.

Martin lunged for Henry. Emilio jumped between them. Raul grabbed Martin’s shoulders, holding him back. After a few tense seconds with all of them breathing hard, Martin started chuckling. Henry followed, snorting out a laugh. Then Emilio and Raul joined in at the same time. They leaned on each other, all four brothers laughing and gasping for air.

“Hey, you guys wanna go get a beer and shoot some pool?” Martin asked when they’d all calmed down. “We haven’t done that in forever.”

“Sure thing,” Henry answered, throwing his arm over Martin’s shoulder and giving him a friendly squeeze.

“I’ll call Jim,” Raul said. “Alicia likes when we include him in shit.”

“Cool,” Emilio answered. “We going to Shooters?”

“Yeah,” Martin answered.

“I caught a ride in today,” Henry said. “Can I get a lift with you?”

“Sure,” Emilio answered. They all walked to their trucks, and Emilio waited until they were climbing in before loudly saying, “Hey, Henry, now we can finish our conversation.”

“You’re sick fucks!” Martin shouted.

Emilio slammed his door, looked at Henry, and started laughing all over again.

Chapter 16

IT HAD been the Friday to end all Fridays. A full schedule of classes, two last-minute classroom changes because of the construction, and a line out the door for office hours, topped off by a department meeting. Even with all of that, Spencer had stayed happy all day. All week, really. Heck, he’d upgrade that to a month, because that was how long Emilio had been in his life.

“I want details,” Maria Lee said as she followed Spencer into his office after the meeting. She kicked the door closed behind her.

“Details?” Spencer asked in confusion. “You were sitting right next to me. Weren’t you paying attention?”

“I wasn’t talking about the meeting,” she said. “Not that I was paying attention in there. Who calls a meeting on a Friday afternoon? Serves them right if they have to repeat everything.” She waved her hand in dismissal and flopped into Spencer’s chair. “Anyway, I want details about whatever your man did in bed that has you floating around and grinning like a loon.”
