Just like he wouldn’t tell Leo to stop fiddling with new shelving in the store out of ill-perceived politeness.

Not that Zolt was polite.

So he watched Leo’s ass high above on the ladder as he had his morning coffee, because new storage space couldn’t wait until after breakfast. Leo had originally planned to work on a wall that contained one of Zolt’s secret money stashes, but once he’d been warned about the ‘piping’ hidden in that very spot, he’d moved his attention elsewhere.

“You’re on fire today. Where’s all that energy coming from?” Zolt asked, walking from behind the counter and approaching the ladder, eyes following the tempting curve of Leo’s ass.

Leo was all of Zolt’s straight guy fantasies rolled into one. A biker, a mechanic, and now also a handyman with a belt of tools hanging from his waist.

“I just wanna get it done, you know? You bought all those vinyls yesterday, and there’s no space to display them. They won’t make you any money sitting in a box.”

Zolt’s lips crooked, and he slid the back of his hand up Leo’s thigh, watching for his reaction. “You just want me to finally pay you for all the work you’re doing in here.”

Leo had been incredibly helpful. Zolt didn’t overthink the way items were presented at the shop and tended to choose options requiring least effort. Leo, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy creating appropriate displays and wouldn’t let it go until Zolt allowed him free rein. Zolt had been somewhat hesitant at first, but the shop had never looked better, and the new and improved presentation had increased weekly income.

Leo had also insisted on learning how to use the cash register, and while Zolt was reluctant to let anyone else handle his money, Leo was trustworthy. So every now and then, Zolt let Leo play shop behind the counter.

“Yep. My secret agenda—becoming your employee so that we can have an illicit affair that ends up in lawsuits.” But once Zolt touched him, Leo’s gaze drifted to the entrance of the shop.

“It’s early. We’d hear anyone coming,” Zolt reminded him, stepping closer and pushing his other hand between Leo’s thighs where he sensed the heat of his flesh through the denim. “Just you and your inappropriate gay boss—”

Lust flooded Zolt’s brain. Leo—the young, innocent man in need of work, molested by a man in power. In Zolt’s fantasies, Leo kept saying he was straight over and over, despite enjoying a cock up his ass, and he’d gladly make the images in his head reality.

Leo swatted his hand playfully. “Exactly. We shouldn’t be doing this, boss. Especially not in the store. Actually, not ever. Not when my livelihood depends on this relationship.”

“What if it could get you a raise? Don’t you need money to buy a ring for that girl you’re making eyes at?” Zolt asked, breathing hard through his nose as he slowly rubbed the underside of Leo’s balls.

Leo bit back a smile and looked over his shoulder. “I could never afford the kind of ring she expects…”

Zolt bit his lip, his face getting hotter by the second. “Depends on what you’re willing to do. How about you come down here, and we discuss it?” he asked, and sneakily squeezed the pert ass when Leo descended the ladder.

Once Leo was back on the floor, he stood closer than a casual friend, or an employee for that matter, would have. “Boss, I’d do anything for that ring,” he said and ran his fingers across Zolt’s belt buckle.

Zolt had never felt his blood speeding to his dick at a pace so rapid, and he leaned forward, lightheaded from Leo playing along with his fantasy. He’d shut the store, pull down the shutters, and then bend him over the mechanical bull Zolt had taken in two days prior. Leo would loudly assure him he was straight and only offering himself for the money, and Zolt’s balls would drain so fast he’d open the store again before any customers app—

The choir of motorcycles gained momentum within too short of a time, and Zolt stepped back, meeting Leo’s equally wide eyes. “Are those your guys or—?”

“They haven’t told me they’d be coming.” Leo stepped toward the windows, but Zolt pulled him back and dashed to the entrance to see for himself who his unexpected guests were.

“Stay back.”

“Zolt. Fucking hell. You said you’re not working with the Jackals anymore. What the fuck?”

“I didn’t speak to them since, but there’s only two of us, and it sounds like the whole goddamn pack’s on its way here,” Zolt said, dragging Leo behind the counter, toward the door leading to the apartment. His focus became razor sharp, and he sped up, his legs racing against his frantic heartbeat.

The Jackals could not find Leo here. They kept the additional bike locked in a shed when it wasn’t in use, for appearances sake, but Zolt’s mind was already coming up with the worst of suspicions—that they’d been spied on. And if he lost his cool, both their brains might soon land in chunks on the newly cleaned floor.
