When Zolt didn’t take his hand right away, Leo playfully reached for him with his foot, trying to hook it against Zolt’s thigh.

But instead of responding to the invitation, like he would have any other time, Zolt faced away from Leo and buckled his belt. “Right. Let’s set everything up. The guys will be here in half an hour, and they can’t see any of the mess your brothers made,” he said in a dark voice.

Leo groaned in disbelief but forced himself to sit up. Yep, there was definitely an ache in his ass that he’d been too turned on to notice before. He grabbed Zolt’s T-shirt as soon as he could reach it and pulled him closer. “Oh, come on. Five more minutes won’t hurt anyone.”

“Five minutes of what?” Zolt asked, meeting Leo’s gaze after a prolonged moment of avoidance. His skin was still flushed, but his gaze pierced right through Leo with its frosty blue.

Leo slid off the table to hug Zolt. “Just… you know. To just be.” His toes curled when his face met Zolt’s beard. He’d expected Zolt’s arms to slot around him, like they usually would in such moments of closeness, but Zolt grabbed his hands and peeled him away.

“I’m busy. I don’t have time for fucking cuddles after your brothers wrecked my shop.”

Leo stared him, falling off his cloud with an arrow piercing his heart. He pulled up his pants, now painfully aware of the lube between his buttocks. Had the connection between them been just in his head?

“But you had enough time to fuck me?” he asked with more aggression than he’d intended.

Zolt didn’t back out. He remained as steady as an ice sculpture. “Had to let off the steam somehow, right? The least you could fucking do for me after just standing there and watching.”

All the shame Leo had thrown away, because the fuck had felt too good for him to care, now washed over him like a wave filled with filth and trash. He hadn’t just stood there. He’d stopped Kane from hitting the fish tank. He’d forced an agreement. He’d put his body on the line despite Zolt being a shit who sold guns to the Jackals.

And Leo had let that asshole fuck him and watch him moan like a bitch in heat. Because, like the giant fool he was, he chose to trust a man who’d already proven he was not trustworthy.

He curled his fists, considering punching Zolt as many times as it took for him to feel better, but what the fuck would that help him achieve?

“Fine. I guess. If that’s what you want. I’ll get started on the mess.” Cleaning was the last thing he wanted to do, but at least he wouldn’t have to look into Zolt’s smug, fucking, face.

Chapter 13 - Leo

After doing some cleaning in the store, which ended with him getting several glass cuts on his hands, Leo didn’t know what to do with himself. He hated Zolt’s poker buddies, but couldn’t clear his head on a bike ride, because he needed to be responsible and stay close to the drugs for as long as there were strangers present.

Restless, he ended up outside despite it being a cool night for the beginning of October. Oh well, he had a bottle of tequila to warm him up, and a blanket to line the bed of Zolt’s pickup truck. The setup wasn’t particularly comfortable, but he could bear it for a few hours if it meant not having to look at Zolt’s face and soak in cigar smoke.

As soon as he was alone, intrusive memories flooded his brain, reminding him of what he’d let Zolt do to him two hours earlier. He’d been fucked on the same goddamn table Zolt now sat at playing poker. What in the fresh hell had compelled him to give in? Zolt was a predator on the prowl, not his cuddle bear, and Leo should have known better.

To distract himself at least a bit, Leo took a big swig of tequila and chose Rain’s number on the phone. He’d called Dad to ask about Jeff as soon as he got the chance, but his brother had still not been operated on back then. Guilt gnawed at his insides when he thought that he should have driven off to wait at the hospital instead of letting Zolt fuck his ass like some cheap slut. But Dad had assured him Jeff would be all right and told Leo to stay put. So he stayed put and bore his punishment.

Rain picked up after several beeps. “Did you know?” was the first thing she said, and Leo lay back on the blanket, watching the clouds form pale blots on the night sky. He wore a hoodie, but there was so much ice in his chest he wouldn't feel warm even if he sat next to naked flames.
