“That makes sense. I’d rather go with salt if it’s going to be cheaper in the long run, plus you won’t smell like chlorine when you get out. If you let me know the company names, I’ll start getting quotes.” She moves, her ass jutting against my cock. Damn thing has yet to go down since I’ve returned from the grocery store, a constant state of hardness with Tulsa Rose around.

“Butterfly, why would you pay a company when I’m the one who was going to install it in the first place?” She looks over her shoulder.

“I’d still pay you.” I arch an eyebrow at her. Like fucking hell she will. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. One of these days.”

“You want to pay me back, you can do it in a bikini while I’m working.” I wink at her and watch her flush. I remember all too well the year she turned seventeen, how she’d make an excuse to walk by me in that red bikini of hers.

“Should I wear high heels while carrying a tray of sweet tea, too?” That smile of hers lights up her face.

“Fuck the heels, and I’d rather drink beer.” I back away to grab the plates, moving away before I say fuck it, abandon the food, and have a different kind of meal than what we’re about to eat.

“Good to know. I’m suddenly famished,” she changes the subject. I drop it, a smirk on my face knowing that I’m getting to her. The feeling is entirely mutual.

TULSA ROSE

“Nelle, you won’t believe what happened last night. I swear I’m getting whiplash,” I tell her the next day while sitting on the floor in Montgomery’s room, going through his clothes. A donate pile, a trash pile, and a keep pile all sit surround me. Sadly, or not so sadly, the donate pile is mammoth. The few pieces of clothing I’m keeping are a college crewneck sweatshirt and a few tee shirts he kept from his high school days. The rest, someone else could use, and honestly, I really thought this would be a lot harder than it is.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Tell me everything.” She’s sitting at her desk, tapping away at the keyboard, while I’m sorting through the rest of Mont’s closet. On to shoes now, which will all be donated, minus his gym shoes. No one should ever be forced to go near them, me included.

“Ledger made his presence known. It was like the past was washed away. I mean, he’s always been this dominant alpha type of male, but yesterday, he was like a completely different person. I fell asleep after making my rounds through the house. He left, and when I woke up, my boxes were unloaded,” I tell her.

“Please tell me you’re getting to the good part because right now, this a snooze fest.” She pretends to yawn. I roll my eyes at her. My best friend is a drama queen.

“If you’d quit interrupting, I’d have told you already, but no,” I hold up a rogue tee I found at the bottom of Mont’s closet. “That’s weird. This isn’t Mont’s; it’s Ledgers, one I stole from him and kept in my bedroom. I wonder how it got in Montgomery’s room, on the closet floor, buried in the back no less.” Ledger had left one of his shirts here, giving me ample opportunity to pinch it, which I did, only wearing it to bed when Mont wasn’t around. I got to wear it a handful of times before it disappeared. It broke my heart thinking I’d misplaced it. I set it aside. I’ll be going back to my thoughts on how it ended up here later. “Anyways, I’m in the bathtub taking myself to pound town when he walks in, literally.” Nelle moves her eyes away from the computer screen.

“No way. Please tell me he joined in on the fun.”

“Kind of. He more or less watched, but man, oh man. I’m not sure I’ve ever come that hard before,” I admit.

“Well, to be fair, your few experiences have sucked, and you rely heavily on your toy.” Nelle has no room to talk. She’s as selective as I am when it comes to who we share ourselves with.

“True, true. Anyways, we’ve yet to talk. We ate dinner together last night, then he left once it started getting dark out.” I don’t mention that falling asleep last night took hours. Concealer was my best friend this morning to hide the dark circles. The lack of rest could be from the nap I took or being back home, hearing the different noises or lack of noises out here compared to the apartment Nelle and I shared. Instead of tossing and turning, I emptied the boxes. Clothes and makeup were my priorities. I still need to figure out where I want to put everything else, as well as changing up the style now that this is my own home.
