Watching her in the middle of her bed curled into a ball, holding her doll made my heart break.

“What’s wrong, princess?”

“Nothing is wrong.” She continued staring out the window. I made my way to her, and in one movement I had her in my lap where she started crying.

“Beautiful girl, why are you crying? Are you not happy to be getting sisters?”

“You bon’t bant me here anymore,” she cried out.

“What are you talking about?” I moved her so she was looking into my eyes. “Don’t you know that I want you here all the time? Every day.” Her little sobs started to get quiet, so I continued. “I love you so much, so much it makes my heart hurt when you’re not here.”

“Your heart hurts?”

“Yup, it hurts because it misses you so much.”

“I don’t want your heart to hurt. I’ll albays come back.” She leaned in and whispered, “This is my favorite house ever.”

“Good, because with your sisters coming you need to teach them everything there is about being a princess. Can you do that?”

“I am a very, very big pwincess.”

“Yes, yes, you are.” I hugged her close, breathing her in. I looked up, watching Parker at the door, tears being wiped from her eyes.

“I love you,” she mouthed to me.

“Love you more,” I mouthed right back to her.

I’m not going to say that Parker was super excited about being pregnant with twins. My wife was very fucking mean during most of her pregnancy, except when she needed me to fuck her. I can’t count all the times she smirked at me and told me I should buy a gun.

She wasn’t wrong. These two are going to be the death of me. Both have me wrapped around their fingers. All they need to do is bat their eyes and I’ll do anything they ask me. No questions asked.

I was also excited I would get to be there every single day. I went through the teething, the crawling, their first smile, the first step. I was also there when I tried to put skates on them and heard them wail like someone was literally trying to murder them. Their high-pitched squeals got just about everyone to turn around and look.

“They can change, Cooper. Maybe we just hold off another couple more months.”

Even Matthew, who was a towering six foot four. He was drafted first over all. The day he got drafted I felt this immense pride. It was so good to be there with him while he stood up, hugged his mom, and then turned straight to me and buried his face in my shoulder while I told him how proud I was of him.

So, after that fiasco in the arena, l brought the twins back a couple of months later. Same thing. I don’t think I’ll ever win.

“Come and eat. Lunch is ready.” Parker comes outside, her smile on full display, but she is also wearing a polka dot bikini. After the twins, she busted her ass dieting to get back to her pre pregnancy weight. When she finally reached her goal and after one too many martinis, my girl is rocking that six months pregnant stomach.

She cursed me to high heavens, blaming my super sperm for striking that fast, but at least this time it’s only one. It’ll be her fucking last time, according to her. Our baby boy will be here in three months, and I can’t fucking wait.

Walking in, I find her getting the plates ready for the kids. All the kids are home today, which is a miracle. Especially since Matthew has his own place not too far from here.

I kiss her lips, leaning down to kiss her stomach. It’s something that I have always done. From the minute we saw the plus sign three years ago. Every single time, I never let the chance to touch her go.

“Mom.” Allison comes running into the room. “Zoe and Zara were in the princess closet, and there is a mess everywhere. I’m not cleaning that up. Just so you know.”

“They are just playing. I’m sure they will clean all that mess up, Allison.” I cut in and watch her roll her eyes at me. My baby girl is ten going on twenty.

“Dad, you never think you’re spoiling them.” Allison looks at me. Another thing that I was blessed with. She said she wanted to call me dad so she wasn’t the outsider. Silly girl, the first time she called me that I almost cried. I would have given away everything I had for her.

“Oh please, Allison, Cooper was just the same with you. You hung the moon for him. He never let you clean up all the million messes you made.” Matthew comes in and messes her hair.

“What’s that mark on your neck?” Allison asks him, making all of us turn to look at him.
