I didn’t know if I wanted to bend her over my knee and spank her little ass or take her to the bedroom and pound my seed into her until she begged for mercy.
As I watch her help Keeper, I can’t get my mind off living with her here. I know she’s not going to let me move in, at least not yet, but I want to be with her and I don’t want to stay at the Exiled Guardians club or at my apartment above the strip club. I want a house with her, a family and until I can get something built, this is going to be it.
I know she doesn’t want bossy. I can tell she doesn’t like being told what to do. I’m trying to hold back. I know I have a lot to prove to her and until I do, well, I’m willing to take it slow.
“Keep,” I holler.
He walks over to me and when I catch Harper staring at me, she turns her head away quickly. I would chuckle at her antics if I still wasn’t feeling remnants of anger toward my men. They saw her almost naked. I’ve watched them the rest of the day and they haven’t even looked her way. I’m sure they know by now I would kill someone if they messed with her.
“What’s up, Smoky?”
“I’m going to the department and hardware store. Can you keep an eye on Harper?”
I ask him.
He shrugs his shoulders. “Yeah, but she’s getting ready to go to work, she said.”
Fuck. “Can you take her there? I will bring the stuff here and drop it off before I go in.”
He nods his head, but I can tell he has something to say. “What is it, Keep?”
“She’s pretty upset about all this.” He gestures around the house. “She thinks you’re doing this out of pity.”
I look him dead in the eye. “I’m not.”
He looks at me, measuring my response. I should be pissed, but honestly, I’m glad Harper has someone else on her side besides me. Looking around the room, l can see that the whole club has her back.
He nods his head, then slaps me on the back. “I’ll get her to work.”
Harper
When I came out of my bedroom from getting ready for work, Smoky was gone. I knew it as soon as I walked out. I don’t know what to think about all of this. He’s pretty much avoided me since this morning. However, I’ve felt his stare all day long. I’ve felt a pull in my lower belly and a tingle in my whole body every time I look at him.
“I’m going to work, Keeper. I’ll see you later,” I tell him as I walk past.
I wave at a few of the guys and keep moving.
“Hold up!” Keeper stands up, wiping his hands down his jeans. “Smoky asked me to take you to work.”
“What?” I roll my eyes. “No way. You’ve already been working on my house all day. I don’t need you to walk me to work. Plus, if he was so worried about me getting there, he should be here to take me.” My face flushes, and I want to kick myself for saying that out loud.
I stride out the door and get as far as the sidewalk before Keeper catches up with me. “Do you feel better?”
“Maybe. No. Ugh, where is he? I need to get this settled. I can’t afford for you to do all this work on my house, and I don’t want his pity either.” I keep walking and Keeper, with his long legs, keeps up with me easily.
“He doesn’t pity you. It’s not my place to say how he feels about you, but I will tell you that this is new to him too. Give him a chance, Harper.” I stop and he walks about ten feet ahead of me before he stops and turns around. I want to ask him what he means, but I don’t. I’m sure there’s some kind of bro code or something going on here and well, honestly, I don’t know if I’m ready to hear it yet.
“Well, c’mon, you got me walking here and I don’t walk anywhere. Let’s go.” He claps his hands together and I walk up beside him.
“I’m sorry. We should have brought your bike. I wasn’t thinking. Now you have to walk back,” I apologize.
“I don’t have a death wish. There’s no way I would put you on the back of my bike. Brother or no brother, Smoky would shoot me for that one.”
“For riding on your bike?” I ask him incredulously. Surely he’s joking.
“Harper, to us, it means something to let a woman on the back of your bike. You don’t just let anyone. I’ve never had a woman behind me, and I don’t think Smoky has either,” he says as he opens the door to the bar.
