It must be an expensive place to rent or own, and it doesn’t match up with how I envision a bartender living, though maybe his income is bigger than I imagine. Gray surely has the charm to earn maximum tips from his customers.

His turn at the game goes on for quite a while as he sinks a ball with each shot. I take the tiniest of sips from the whiskey sour he made me from his home bar, and follow it with a handful of mini pretzels.

When Gray finally misses, Erik goes next, clearing several balls himself. When it’s my turn, Gray is instantly at my side, ready to guide me.

GRAY

Sexy little Ava.

Rather than teaching her to play pool, I'd much prefer to be bending her over the table and burying my cock deep inside what I'm sure is a tight little pussy.

I’m picturing it very clearly, though I know that even if Erik wasn’t here, Ava isn’t the kind of girl who would jump into action like that.

We hardly know each other, but I intend to change that.

Sex is great, of course, but so is holding her close and teasing her until her pretty cheeks turn the most appealing shade of rosy pink.

My hand covers hers, and I step in closer, notching our bodies together in a very innocent way. I’m a flirt, but I’m not a creep.

“You smell delightful, Ava. Is that your perfume?”

She keeps her eyes on the ball. “I’m not wearing any perfume.”

I take another breath of her. “Your shampoo, maybe. Or just your natural scent.” And there go those pretty cheeks.

Together, we draw the cue stick back and take a shot, but miss again. No wonder, when she’s so deliciously distracting.

“We’ll get it next time,” I say, reluctantly pulling away to take my turn.

This time, I miss intentionally to help extend the game, and cross over to the bar to make another drink while Erik takes his turn.

He must flub it too, whether on purpose or not, because when I turn back to the table, it’s already Ava’s turn, and Erik is the one wrapping his arms around her.

“What are we going for?” she asks him.

He points out a plan and then leans over her to line them up.

“I thought you said she had the hang of it,” I point out.

Erik shoots me a look like I’m a pesky fly intruding on his picnic, but he eventually straightens up, letting Ava make the shot by herself.

Her grip slips, and the cue ball barely moves at all.

“Here, try again.” Erik reaches across the table and puts the white ball back where it was, pointing to a spot on it that she should aim for.

When Ava hits it again, the ball does exactly what it’s supposed to, knocking another ball into the corner pocket.

“Great shot!” Erik cheers. As I watch, he turns her toward him and pulls her in for a celebratory kiss. It’s not long, but it’s definitely more than an innocent peck.

My eyes narrow in confusion. “That was quite a friendly kiss … for two friends to share. What’s going on with you two?” I demand.

“We’re dating now.” Erik’s hand rests lightly on her shoulder, and I’m tempted to use my cue stick to nudge it away.

I look to Ava to see if she protests Erik’s claim, but she stays quiet.

“Interesting,” I say. Irritating, is what I mean.

If they had told me they were dating when I met Ava, I’d have stayed out of it. But Ava, with her striking good looks and guileless nature, has been on my mind since that night, and I’m not inclined to step back so easily now.

As she bends to line up another shot after Erik silently gestures to the next target, I ask, “Are you exclusive?”

After a short hesitation, he says, “I’m not seeing anyone else, but Ava is.” She looks over her shoulder at him as if she’s surprised at this news.

I didn’t peg Ava as the type to be juggling men, though I’m sure she has plenty of them following after her.

As she bends back over the table, my eyes can’t help but follow the soft curve of her ass.

“Very, very interesting,” I say.

AVA

I should just give up trying to play pool. Not because the game seems especially difficult, but because my heart is fluttering like it’s a hummingbird that wants to burst out of my chest and circle around the room.

Gray’s eyes are searing into me with such heat that I wouldn’t be surprised if my clothes caught fire. He’s very close, and I keep expecting him to guide me again, but he lets me take the shot on my own.

As soon as I straighten, he smiles at me, a distinctly devilish grin. “Such an excellent form.” His voice, low and sultry, does things to me I can hardly explain.
