Yet, a violent spiral drew me in, drawing with it the full force of all my childhood pain and anger. My whole body shook with the bloody violence of it. I didn’t just want to hit her. I wanted to shoot her in that fucking hard head.

And part of me thought killing her would be justice. It would be cleansing to my soul. It would be an ending to the terror and trauma she had spread through my life.

No. Don’t do it. She’s in her late seventies. That shit wouldn’t be cool.

I took in a long and slow breath.

You’re better than that, Kash.

“You’ll look at me when I’m talking to you, Kashmere!”

I turned my head to her and glared, doing my best to show her the rage inside of me.

Startled, Grandma took a step back.

I narrowed my eyes. “Don’t you ever raise your fucking hand again to touch me.”

She took another step back. “You better fix your face and your tone.”

Fuck this.

“Don’t you touch me again!” I rushed for her.

She shrieked and stumbled back.

I grabbed her arms hard and roared in her face. “Never!”

She trembled.

“I will fucking kill you!” I screamed. Spit flying out of my mouth. “Touch me again! I dare you!”

“K-Kashmere, you’re crazy—”

“You think I’m a whore?” I dug my nails into her skin. “You fucking old bitch! I’ll put your ass in a casket while you’re still breathing, sling it in a grave, throw some dirt over it, and fuck man after man over your shitty, cold dying body!”

“You’re the devil. I knew it the first time I saw you in your mother’s arms.” My grandmother’s eyes were so wide that I thought they were going to pop from her head. ”The devil!”

“Fuck you, bitch!”

The door opened.

Rue, Dane, and even Merik rushed in, but didn’t get in the way.

Rue came to my side and held her hands up. “Kash, please.”

I glared at Rue. “What?!”

“Please. . .let go of your grandmother.”

I snatched my hands away. “I should kill her.”

Grandmother shrieked again. “Look at this demon. She’s crazy. She’s unfit to be Chairman or even stand in her brother’s office—

“It’s my office!” Pissed, I paced in front of them. “This is my fucking office! Romeo is dead! Chanel is dead!”

“Look at this. She’s insane.”

I stopped and faced her. “But, I’m alive, bitch! And you may not be if you keep talking!”

Rue gasped.

“I’m alive.” I calmed myself and pointed at Grandma. “And you’re going to have to deal with me. Whether you love me or not.”

Grandmother shook her head. “I don’t have to deal with you.”

“You do.”

“The Board is the final judgement.”

“I’ll fucking kill you and the Board!”

“Dear God.” Grandmother held her hand to her chest. “The devil has really taken you.”

“Okay.” Rue took Grandma’s hand. “Mrs. Jones, we should help you get to your room.”

“Fuck that.” I sneered. “She slapped me. Take that bitch to a hotel. Get her out of my house.”

“Oh shit.” Dane rubbed his forehead.

Merik laughed. “Fuck yeah. Tell her, Kash.”

Grandmother wildly shook her head. “Y-you can’t do that. You can’t kick me out. I’ve lived in this house longer than you’ve been alive.”

“If I see you in this house again tonight, you won’t be alive much longer.” I stormed off.

Merik hurried after me and got to my side. “Wow.”

My security guards followed.

Dane and Rue stayed with my grandmother probably trying to calm her down.

“Kash, you really meant that?” Merik eyed me and kept my pace. “You’re kicking Grandma out the mansion?”

“I should have slapped her ass back.”

“No way.” Merik laughed. “If you ever slap her, you must do that in front of me.”

I didn’t want to, but I chuckled.

“You threatened and called Grandma a bitch. That shit was epic.”

Embarrassed, I shook my head. “I shouldn’t have done it.”

“But you did. . .and that shit was epic.” Merik laughed. “Fuck. I hope Romeo and Chanel saw that shit from heaven. You know they’re high-fiving Jesus right now.”

And then my heart ached and suddenly tears spilled from my eyes.

Merik whispered, “Kash?”

“I’m fine.” Rushing forward, I sniffled and rushed to wipe the tears.

Another voice sounded behind me. “Kashmere?”

I stopped and turned around.

Santino stood behind us with all of his men, radiating power and rage. His face was etched with worry and annoyance. His eyes burned with a furious fire. He radiated power and authority and resembled a dark, raging storm, more murderous wind than cold rain, more violent destruction than calm. And that storm yelled that he wanted nothing more than to crash through the wall, take down the whole foundation, and destroy everything in his path.

However, instantly, I felt safer like he was truly the only person that would have my back in a fight that was bound to break out soon with Killer Crows.

He leaned his face to the side. “Did she slap you?”

My bottom lip quivered. “I’ve got it under control.”
