Dear Lord.

It was killing her that she didn’t get to come.

He drove himself into her deeper. Faster. But just when she thought she couldn’t take anymore, he seemed to realize and drew back.

When he finally came, she swallowed him down eagerly, sucking on him in the hope he’d take some pity on her and relent.

But he simply slid himself free and she rested her face on his thigh. Regent brushed his fingers through her hair.

“Good baby,” he murmured. “You did so well. I’m so proud of you.”

Jilly wasn’t sure she’d ever tire of hearing that.

“Come here.” Reaching down, he lifted her up and finished washing her off.

Her entire body was overly sensitized, and she moaned quietly as he touched her nipples and washed her pussy.

“It’s all right. Shh, I have you.”

Grabbing the shampoo, he washed her hair. After cleaning himself, he led her out of the shower and dried them both off.

Wrapping a dry towel around her, he led her over to the bathroom counter and picked up her hair dryer.

To her shock, he dried her hair and brushed it.

Taking care of her. Looking after her.

Once her hair was dried, he lifted her into his arms and carried her into the bedroom. He sat her on the bed before crouching in front of her.

“What do you want to wear?”

Jilly stared at him. Why was he making her think?

“Last night you told me you didn’t want me to tell you what to wear, remember?”

Right. Why had she said that again?

“Can you? Just for right now?”

“Of course, baby. Anything you need, I’m here to give you. Always.”

He returned with a long black skirt and a white shirt. Plain and boring.

“I don’t like these clothes anymore,” she whispered.

“Do you want me to get something else for you to wear?”

“No. I just mean that my clothes no longer feel like me.”

“Then we’ll get you new ones. And before you say that you can’t pay for them, you won’t be. And you will not argue with me over that.”

The boss had spoken.

He crouched at her feet and held out her panties for her.

There was something surreal about the big, bad criminal kingpin putting on her panties for her.

Ripping them off . . . that was normal. Putting them on? Not so much.

He tugged them up her legs, directing her to stand and hold on to his shoulder as he settled them on her.

Yeah, it was definitely surreal.

Even stranger was when he grabbed her bra and placed it over her breasts before having her turn so he could do it up.

Then he spun her back around and reached into one cup to carefully grasp hold of her breast, situating it into the bra.

There was nothing sexual in the touch as he moved from one breast to the other. He was just simply taking care of her.

“Comfortable?” he asked.

“Yes,” she whispered.

When he had finished dressing her, he cupped her chin, tilting her head back. “Beautiful girl. So precious. So mine.”

Yeah. She was definitely his.

Jilly stared down at the laptop in shock.

It was sitting in what had become her favorite room of the house. The solarium. Although she still loved the library, it just depended on her mood. The solarium had large, floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing the outside in. There was a comfy sofa in here and an old coffee table. A brand new laptop, packets of sticky notes, and a shiny black credit card sat on the table.

There was a note as well.

Use the credit card for whatever you want or need.

It will make me happy.

Jilly grumbled. He just had to go and say it would make him happy, didn’t he?

Well, she guessed she could buy a few things. The thing that excited her the most, though, was the laptop.

And the sticky notes.

She clapped her hands in happiness and rushed out of the room. She had to thank him. It was the polite thing to do.

But after checking his office, their bedroom, the dining room, and living room, she realized she’d probably never find him without some help.

Rushing into the kitchen, she nearly crashed into Gerald.

“Oh my gosh, Gerald! I’m so sorry! Are you all right?”

“Never better. Can I help you, Miss Jilly?”

“I was looking for Regent. Do you know where he is?”

“He’s gone.”

“Gone?” She frowned. “I didn’t think he was leaving until later.” He’d told her that he wouldn’t be going out until after dinner.

“I believe something came up.”

“Right, uh-huh, sure.” It shouldn’t matter that he didn’t say goodbye. He didn’t need to check in with her all the time. She was his girlfriend, not his keeper.

But it kind of made her feel . . . forgotten.

“If it makes you feel better, I believe there was something urgent he had to attend to.”

“Of course. It’s all good. I’ve got to go get some work done.”

“Would you like me to bring you some coffee in an hour’s time?”
