She was shocked. “Oh. Okay.” They had eaten upstairs just to accommodate her? Wow.
“Give me a kiss, and I’ll let you get back to all the important stuff you’re working on.”
Sadie leaned in to press her lips quickly against his and lingered as his arms wrapped around her to pull her body close. She relaxed against his hard form and responded eagerly to the magic that always happened in Rocco’s arms.
“Six,” he reminded her.
“I’ll be there.”
Chapter Twenty-One
She could get used to waking up in her Daddy’s arms, Sadie decided when she found herself humming happily as she worked the next morning. All the men were amazing, but Rocco was special. She’d always dreamed of finding someone like him. The best thing was he seemed to feel the same way about her.
“Ready to go get changed, Sadie?” His voice made her jump in surprise.
“Is it time?” she asked, looking at her watch. Ten-thirty. She smiled at the handsome man, loving that he was obviously as eager to spend time with her as she was with him.
“It is. I put some clothes out on the bed in your playroom for you to wear.”
Sadie hurried to gather all the things she was working on and rushed forward to wrap her arms around Rocco. “I won’t take long!”
“Would you like help getting ready?” he asked with a twinkle in his eye.
“I can do it.”
“That’s probably wisest. I might get distracted.”
Feeling her face heat, Sadie knew she was blushing. She liked it when he got distracted. His low chuckle told her he knew just where her thoughts had taken her.
“If you’re sure you can get dressed without my expert help, I’ll go pick up our lunch basket and get some water for us to take,” he suggested.
“That’s a very smart idea. I’ll meet you here?” she said, running her hand over the reception desk.
“Ten minutes.”
Turning, she walked as fast as she could in her short heels to the elevator. The elevator felt so slow but, finally, she and her impatiently tapping toes reached the top floor. After a press of her thumb against the entry pad, Sadie raced into Rocco’s apartment and into her play space. She was grateful Magnus had recorded her thumbprint after the frightful night when she’d first learned about the basement. It was faster and easier, and her thumb was always with her.
When she entered the playroom, she smiled. There on the bed was a pair of flexible material shorts, a sports bra, and an official Danger Bluff I climbed the Bluff T-shirt. She laughed at the latter, knowing he’d raided the new supplies that were coming in every day to fill the gift shop. Stripping off her clothes, Sadie was surprised to find she was really looking forward to this. Time alone with her Daddy would be amazing—especially doing something that he loved so much.
She crossed her fingers as she stepped into her shorts. Hopefully, she’d be somewhat competent and enjoy the experience. She just didn’t want to make a fool of herself.
Dressed, she sat down on the bed to pull on the socks and athletic shoes he’d left out for her. Rocco had assured her that she could start with her regular sneakers to try out the sport. If she liked it, he’d buy her gear that would help her tackle more challenging paths. Sadie had already decided the bunny path, or whatever rock climbers called the easiest one, would be hard enough.
In minutes, she was back at the desk to find Rocco waiting for her with a basket and a backpack of gear. “Ready! What can I carry?”
“I’ve got this, Cookie.” Rocco easily shrugged into the pack and lifted the basket. He ushered her out the front door of the resort and into a waiting jeep.
“We’ll save energy and ride to the cliff face.”
“Okay.”
Sadie hadn’t been to this section of the resort. It wasn’t far, and she enjoyed the beautiful landscaping the gardeners were in the process of restoring. “The guests are going to love this place. It’s so gorgeous.”
“Every day it gets better. I love seeing the improvements. I know you’ve been trapped inside getting everything ready there. We can take a longer tour when we’re finished or do it another day if you would like.”
“I’d love that.”
Rocco parked at the bottom of the cliff overlooking the resort area. When Sadie lifted her hand to open the door, he wrapped his around her thigh to hold her in place. “Daddy’s job is taking care of you.”
“I can open my door, Rocco.”
“I know you can, but it makes me happy to take care of you,” he explained.
She smiled at him. He always made everything easier for her. “Okay. I’ll wait.”
“Thank you, Little girl.”
Rocco slid out of the vehicle and circled around the front. She watched the magnetic man. He moved with the smoothness of a panther. His toned and muscled body fascinated her. Sadie couldn’t wait to see his power in action as he climbed the cliff.
