“Good.” Feeling relieved, Light pulled out the Earth money he had procured specifically for this trip. He looked down at the little Elite.
“Friendboy, boyfriend—whatever you call it, it’s my understanding that the male pays for the female in your culture. Was I wrong?” he asked.
“Well…no.” She nibbled her lower lip. “It’s okay then—go ahead and pay. But I can pay you guys back if you want me to—I still have my purse.” She nodded at a tiny bag swinging from her shoulder.
“Fine—we can talk about it—but later,” Light agreed—mostly because he wanted to get the three of them into the club and away from the belligerent human male. Taking Dark down to Earth was a risk and if they caused a scene it would make trouble for the Kindred of the Mother Ship who had kindly allowed them to come live among them.
Also, he wanted to get to know the little female. She was…interesting in a way no other human he had met—male or female—had been so far. He found himself wanting to spend time with her and he thought Dark might feel the same way.
Light paid for their entrance and the three of them walked into the club. It was lit with blue lights and dotted with many small tables around a large open area where couples swayed together. Looking closer, Light saw a small stage at the far end of the club where a group of musicians were producing soft, calming music.
“Oh, this must be a jazz club,” the little Elite said, looking around in surprise. “I didn’t know Tampa had a place like this!”
“We were told it was a good place to observe human culture and that it wasn’t as loud or crowded as many other places open at night,” Light informed her. He had asked around ahead of time, looking for a place where Dark’s Berserker DNA wouldn’t be stirred up by loud noise or conflict.
“It’s certainly nicer than most of the other places in Ybor,” she remarked. Then she cast a glance over her shoulder and her body went stiff again. “Oh, no—he followed us in!”
Light looked as well. Sure enough, the human male had come into the club. He was still staring at the little human female with a clenched jaw and a furrowed brow. It appeared he was determined to get to her for some reason.
On the other side of the little female, Dark began to growl. It was a low, rumbling sound that came from deep in his chest and vibrated his entire large frame. He bared his teeth at the human male and narrowed his eyes, which were beginning to glow with a reddish hue.
Light was disconcerted to hear his twin growling—it was a sound he associated with the call to battle—not with a “fun night out on the town” as Commander Sylvan had called it, when he finally agreed to let the two of them to go experience Earth culture.
His heart started pounding harder in his chest as he experienced yet another unfamiliar emotion—anxiety. He needed to do something quickly or all Seven Hells were going to break loose!

DARK
“Easy, Brother,” Light murmured, reaching around to put a calming hand on his arm. Dark shook it off. He was still looking at the fucking human—the one who wanted to hurt the little female who was shivering with fear between them. Dark wasn’t having that!
“He must have a fucking death wish!” he rumbled, glaring at the human menacingly.
“Or he doesn’t believe we’re a couple…er, or a throuple?” the little human said, looking up at Light again. “Quick—kiss me!”
“What?” Light seemed taken aback. For that matter, so was Dark. Why would she ask such a thing?
“Everyone knows how protective Kindred warriors are of their women,” she said impatiently. “If he believes we’re really all together, maybe he’ll leave me alone! Now, kiss me!” And she put her arms around Light’s neck and pulled him down.
Of course, Light could have resisted her—she was tiny and didn’t have even a fraction of his strength. But he appeared so shocked at her strange request and her insistence that he comply, that he allowed himself to be pulled down to her level.
The human female pressed her lips to his and ran her fingers through his long, silver hair, making a show of kissing him passionately.
After a moment, Light started kissing her back.
Watching them gave Dark a tingling sensation that seemed to run through his entire body—even his enhanced arm. He knew that most Twin Kindred experienced pain when their twin touched a female sexually without them—it was a response that all normal Twin Kindred Pairs had due to their deep and intense bond.
Because he and Light were Imperfect Twins, he didn’t feel pain when he and his brother touched a female separately. But he did feel something—the tingling sensation was actually quite pleasurable. He could feel his cock getting hard as he watched Light kiss the little Elite. He also had the urge to kiss her himself, though he had never felt any kind of desire to kiss anyone before.
