He swiped at his cheek with his forearm as he pulled away. “You don’t think we’ll ruin it? By being more than friends?”

“How could we?” I wrapped my fingers around his nape, keeping him close. “We’re good at this. We’re always there for each other and talk things through, and now we’re pretty darn good at getting each other off. In fact, you’re really good at that thing you did with your tongue this morning when you—”

“Shh,” he said with a laugh. “Someone might hear us.”

“I don’t care,” I said, feeling so relieved that I’d gotten it wrong but also cursing myself that I didn’t listen to my gut. Because this was Morgan. Of course he was my person. He always had been. “I feel on top of the world.”

I lifted Morgan off his feet and twirled him around, loving the sound of his laughter and seeing the joy in his eyes. And when Morgan kissed me, deep and slow, right there in the lobby, I thought my heart might explode with pure affection.

We grinned like fools in love when we pulled apart, and my cheeks hurt from smiling.

He grabbed my hand and dragged me toward the ballroom, where we could hear the beginning sounds of music. “We should get back in there.”

When we stepped inside, Ryan and Kate were in the center of the floor for their first dance, and they looked as radiant as I felt right then. Soon enough, both sets of parents joined them, and Kate danced with her dad while Ryan twirled around with his mom. Morgan looked emotional watching his family, so I tangled our fingers together. He squeezed my hand like it was the most natural thing in the world, and it only amplified the ache in my chest. I wished we could be alone so I could show him what I was feeling right then, but we’d have time for that later.

The next song, the matron of honor and her husband stepped onto the floor, and when Ryan and Kate motioned to us, I felt Morgan stiffen beside me.

“Can I have this dance?” I said, stepping forward and stretching out my hand.

He only hesitated briefly before joining me, winding his arms around my neck as my fingers clutched his waist. “I feel like everyone’s staring at us.”

“After that speech, what do you expect?” I teased, and Morgan’s cheeks dotted pink. “I feel pretty lucky that I’m the guy you think hung the stars.”

“Well, my boyfriend’s not only an amazing human, but he also fills out a suit really well,” Morgan said with a twinkle in his eye.

“You just called me your boyfriend,” I said, and he nodded with the same wonder in his eyes. “I love the sound of that.”

Morgan pressed his forehead against mine and sighed against my lips as we moved our feet back and forth to the music. My breath caught as I reveled in it all, in having made the leap from friendship to relationship without much fanfare—except for a near panic attack when I was afraid I’d been wrong about us.

“You were actually jealous of Dawson?” Morgan asked, glancing over his shoulder to where Dawson awkwardly watched with his date, the two of them and the other members of the bridal party waiting for their cue to join in. “He’s got nothing on you.”

“And don’t you forget it.” I surprised him by dipping him, then planting a kiss on his lips. We heard clapping and realized it was coming from Morgan’s parents along with Ryan and Kate. And then the other attendants joined in, Dawson using his fingers to whistle, and I’d admit, he looked genuinely happy for us. Even a bit envious, so maybe this would be a turning point for him after all.

Morgan’s parents waltzed closer to us, beaming, and his mom pulled us in for a group hug. “I always knew the two of you were meant for each other,” she said, and his dad murmured his assent as well.

“You did?” Morgan asked, looking just as stunned as I was feeling.

“Have you seen the way Elliot takes care of you?” she replied, then kissed both of our cheeks. “And you take pretty good care of Elliot too.”

We changed partners through a couple more songs, then watched other traditions like Ryan and Kate cutting the wedding cake before dancing some more, visiting with relatives and friends, and toasting with some drinks.

It was late by the time we got back to the room, but we wasted little time, leaving a trail of clothes and shoes—and leg braces—before rolling around naked on the bed, kissing each other senseless. Morgan sprang to his knees and kissed his way down my chest to my groin, then licked at my glans before swallowing my shaft, doing that swirling trick with his tongue that I loved.
