Coach lets out a loud huff and studies the girls before sparing his team a glance, knowing they’re right. We could use all the help we can get. “What exactly does all of this involve?”

“Not much,” Dani says. “We only received the assignment this morning, so we haven’t planned it all out yet. But most likely, a few charity fundraisers and interviews with the guys. You know, those types of things.”

He presses his lips into a tight line. “What kind of fundraisers? That sounds like a waste of their time. These boys have a strict training schedule. There’s not a spare moment in their day between training, gym, and classes.”

“No, no. They won’t need to do a thing, only show up. But we’ll ensure it doesn’t conflict with their training or games. All we need from them is a waiver, giving us permission to photograph them and use those images for social media purposes and in print.”

He huffs once again and turns toward us. “You boys on board with this?”

The boys begin grunting their approval, but I speak up. There are a few things Golden Girl hasn’t answered. “What kind of fundraisers and events are we going to have to be involved in?”

Her beautiful green eyes land on mine, and she takes me in, sucking in a shallow breath as she fumbles, almost dropping her camera. Her cheeks take on the sweetest shade of pink, mesmerizing me until my mind goes blank and I forget what I even asked her. I become so focused on her lips that I barely even hear what she says next.

“Well, we’re hoping you guys would be cool with this, but we were thinking that sex sells,” Dani continues with confidence. My dick hardens even more hearing those words come from her sweet mouth.

“What?” Coach sputters out, clearly not impressed by their approach. “That’s ridiculous. My boys are not whoring themselves out.”

The boys begin to snicker at their coach’s misunderstanding. “No,” Dani quickly clarifies, looking equally as horrified at the idea. Though, I know some of these guys honestly wouldn’t mind. “What I meant was, we could do things like a Boys of Ice Hockey calendar that we could sell, and all proceeds would go to a charity,” she continues before one of the boys cuts in.

“No offense, but a calendar sounds pretty shit,” Brody smirks, unapologetic.

Sophie scoffs at him. “Very unimaginative,” she mutters. “We were thinking more along the lines of you guys would be naked and oiled up with say . . . I don’t know, a strategically placed puck covering the goodies, for example. Although for you, all you’d need is a few ice shavings.” The guys laugh at Brody’s expense, but Sophie is quick to continue. “Take it from a female perspective. Every woman on this campus, and probably in the state, would want a copy of that calendar. Sell it for twenty dollars apiece and suddenly, you’re raking in the cash. You make a big show of donating the money to a charity at one of your televised games, and you’ve instantly restored your reputation. Assuming you guys can manage a game without beating the shit out of each other.”

I ignore her snide comments as I nod along. I like where this is going. “So, the calendar sounds good, but there’s got to be more. The good publicity from a single charitable donation won’t last the whole season.”

“Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered,” Dani says with a beaming smile that makes my stomach clench. “We were thinking of auctioning you all off. Possibly something along the lines of ‘A night with a Dragon.’ Which . . . no. Before you ask, it does not mean a night in bed, but simply a respectful date at a restaurant of the winner’s choosing. We could also have a small bio in the article we write highlighting a hockey hottie of the week to keep you guys relevant. Obviously, on top of all this, we will be keeping on top of your social media pages as well. Though from what I can find, they haven’t been updated since the stone age.”

“Okay, sounds like you’ve put some thought into this,” I say, unable to take my eyes off her. Noticing my attention, her cheeks start to flush in the most breathtaking shade. “Seems like you girls are going to be spending a lot of time around here.”

“It looks that way,” Dani says, glancing at Coach. “If that’s okay? We’re all going to know each other pretty well by the end of the season.”

“Some of us already know you pretty well,” Tank mutters, winking at Sophie who finally looks in his direction, making her eyes pop out of her head.

She recovers within seconds, a sly grin stretching across her lips. “Oh, hey there, big guy,” she purrs, her eyes becoming hooded as she obviously reflects on their time together.
