“You want to tell me how you’re feeling about last night?”

“No, not right now.”

“Why not?”

“I’m not dealing with it now. I still have other people to deal with first.” Oh boy!

“Does that mean you plan to deal with your family at some point down the line?”

“What do you think?”

“I wouldn’t know, I don’t know you that well.”

“Really? I thought you knew everything.”

“Funny! Now tell me!”

“Like I said, I’m not thinking about them right now. There’s still Denny and Lacey and Helen and Mitzie.”

“I see; oh, by the way, this is for you.” I reached over and passed her the folder that contained the information about her parents.

She flipped it open and read for a few minutes before she smiled, if you can call it that. I felt my nuts draw up to my ass. “Alyssa!” She hummed and ate her fries while gazing out at the clouds.

“This is the best honeymoon ever.”

“We’re not there yet.”

“Speak for yourself; my honeymoon started as soon as we got on the plane.”

“Yes, ma’am.” I guess that part of the conversation was over. I’ll just keep my eyes and ears out and alert her family to any danger if I see fit. I know she would regret really hurting them, even if she is nuts.

“So where are we going?” I pulled out another folder with our itinerary as well as a binder with the houses my people had found in different locations around New Zealand. Just because she likes LOTR doesn’t mean she’d want to live in the North Islands, so I had them throw in some places like Herne Bay, Flagstaff, and the like. Knowing her, nothing they found will be to her liking.

“Now I’m bummed I only have two weeks.”

“We can change that.”

“Really? How?”

“You do realize you now work for me right?”

“How do you figure that?”

“Our companies were just combined, well, sort of. I asked for you to work solely on my interest.”

“You did not. When did all this happen?”

“Before you left for Cabo. I figured if you turned down my marriage proposal, I’d at least be able to keep you close to me.”

“Why didn’t I hear of this?”

“I asked your former boss not to tell you until after.”

“You…” oh, so now I’m the target.

“It comes with a much bigger raise than you were expecting, and you get to work with your husband.”

“Don’t get any ideas. I’ll turn your ass in to the labor board if you dick with me.”

“I believe you would.” The next sixty years are going to be entertaining, that’s for sure.

“About those babies.”

“Grrrrrrr!” I guess that’s that.

ALYSSA

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…Lalalalalalala….doododododoooo…dodododododo… these are a few of my favorite things. Send.” I sat back and looked at my handy work.

“I’m not sure I trust that look.” I’d almost forgotten he was there. We were back in the bedroom spread out over the double king-size bed, if there’s such a thing, on a plane, no less. I was wearing one of his dress shirts that I found in the closet while he lounged around in PJ bottoms.

This plane was so not plane-like that I was afraid I’d open a door or window and step right out. It was smooth; there was no sound and no turbulence. I could get used to this life, no doubt about it.

I’d pushed his buttons right down to the banana shake I demanded, just knowing he couldn’t produce it since he claimed my wish was his command. The bastard even knew that that was one of my favorite things and had everything necessary. It had the nerve to be the best I’d ever had. I’ll get him yet, but I was too busy deconstructing other people’s shit to get to him just yet.

I had finally gotten around to checking the community forum to see if anyone had cracked the code, and there were quite a few on the mark. I especially like the conversation in the comments where everyone was naming names as they tried to figure out who exactly I was talking about or, more to the point Rhoda. I was not in the least bit surprised to learn that there was more than one bed-hopping harlot in our community around that time.

“You seem very pleased with yourself; what are you up to now from thirty-thousand feet in the sky?” I don’t know how he would know how I looked since his head has been buried in that book since we came back here.

Thanks to his spy network I uploaded another zinger about one of the affairs Helen had had over the years with enough breadcrumbs to lead them right to her door. This last volley was twofold; one, it would embarrass my father, and two, it would put her filth on blast.

I told him just that, and he shook his head. “Don’t you think you’re being a bit hard on your Dad?” I gave him the look of death, and he had the good sense to swallow and go back to his reading.
