“It’s true. Dad confirmed it with T, who apparently already knew.”

“He knew, and he didn’t tell you?” Thea gasps.

“Yeah, guess Dad wasn’t the only one who felt I couldn’t be trusted with information.” At this point, it’s getting damn hard to keep the bitterness hidden. It’s eating me up inside.

“Your family is really starting to piss me off, Dom.”

“It’s just me, baby. They love you. Dad’s bragging about you constantly.”

“What on earth for?”

“He’s telling everyone how you pulled a gun on him and threatened to shoot him. He’s proud of you. Actually, I am, too. That’s the one thing my father and I can agree about.”

“Geez…”

“I’m also fucking ecstatic that you’re all mine.”

“Ditto,” she giggles.

I pick her hand up, running the pad of my thumb over my name that she had tattooed in on her ring finger in a circular fashion. “You know, you shocked the fuck out of me when you got this. I wanted the one on the back of your neck so I could see it every time I fuck you, but this one is special to me. I love it, and the fact you chose it. There’s just one problem.”

“What’s that?”

I turn and stretch over to my nightstand drawer and pull out a small, black velvet ring box. “Whenever I see it, I keep thinking I need a proper ring over it, too.”

I open the box and Thea gasps my name. “Dom…”

“Thea Kane, will you marry me?” I ask, and suddenly I feel nervous.

She doesn’t speak at first. She just keeps staring at the ring. I’m silently kicking myself, worried that I pushed things way too quickly. Finally, she speaks up. Her gaze lifts to look at me with tears in her eyes. “Dom, all of this happened pretty quick, are you sure?”

“Baby, I’ve never been surer of anything in my life. I love you, woman. All I want in this world is for you to belong to me, for us to have a family together. I want to spend my life with you.”

“I love you, too,” she whispers, with tears starting to fall from her eyes.

“Marry me, Gorgeous. We belong together. We always have. I’m just an idiot,” I plead.

She nods her head as a happy sob escapes from her mouth. I slide the ring on her finger and toss the ring box behind me as my woman falls into my arms. I kiss her with everything I am, tasting the saltiness of her tears and the sweetness of her love all at the same time. There’s never been anything better and never will be.

Chapter 41

Dom

The last week has been the best of my life. I would have thought it couldn’t get better than it already had, but I was wrong. We had dinner with Thea’s parents and my mom a couple of days ago. It went smoothly. It was a little awkward discussing marriage with Mom, considering everything going on, but she was happy for us. Bull made sure to ask me to come back to the club, but it’s not really an option right now. I miss my brothers. I’m not going to lie about that. Hell, every morning I get up and get dressed, I find myself reaching over to grab my cut to put on—only to remember I don’t have one anymore.

Getting Thea’s name tatted on me was good, too. Still, it hurt like hell to cover up the club’s mark. I’ve still not spoken with my father. I don’t really know what to say to him and I’m not ready to let go of the betrayal I still feel.

I push my thoughts away. I have crap I need to accomplish today. I’ve been working at the garage, so the yard has become a jungle. After I mow the grass, I’m going to straighten up the house, then run out and pick up Thea’s favorite meal from the Gondolier in town. Thea has been doing more than her fair share lately. I want to spoil her a bit. Maybe I’ll run by the floral shop in town and pick her up some flowers.

Before I can start on my to-do list. The doorbell sounds and I huff out an annoyed breath. It’s probably my dad. I’ve been expecting him. I know Bull has probably told him that Thea and I are engaged. Shit.

I open the door trying to figure out how in the hell to avoid this discussion, but everything in me comes to a screeching halt when I see Gabby standing at the door. My blood runs cold.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I growl.

“We need to talk,” she says and her voice—which I used to love—is nasally and makes my fucking skin crawl.

“We have nothing left to say to one another. How did you know where I live? Jesus, are you stalking me, Gabby?”
