“We have a lot to work on, you know that. You lied to me, but I also didn’t give you a chance to explain. I ended things and ran because that was what felt the easiest for me at the time. We need to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

“Agree.”

“It’s going to take time,” I tell him. “To build this back up.”

“If it takes forever, then I’ll be here.”

I lean forward, bringing my lips to his. The exhale of relief, and the growl of satisfaction, makes my skin tingle. Sliding my hand up, I run it down his hair, tangling my fingers in it as I deepen the kiss. He pulls me toward him, still on his knees, and I curl my legs around his body and lean down a little further so we can make this kiss one for the records.

And oh, it is.

He kisses me until my heart is racing, and my body is weak.

I kiss him until he’s growling and clutching me to him, like he’ll never let go.

I hope he won’t.

I hope he hangs on forever this time.

ONE MONTH LATER.

“God, it has been too long since I’ve had alcohol,” I groan, pressing a hand to my head as it spins. “But man, I’ve missed it.”

“We’re not going to get into trouble for giving you alcohol, are we?” Addi asks, taking a shot as we sit together in the booth at the bar. “Because if we are, too bad. I’ll fight anyone who tries to stop me.”

“Not long until I can feel the sweet burn of liquor going down my throat,” Ciara sighs, rubbing her belly.

“Sorry for your loss,” Serenity grins, shooting a shot back.

“I’m so glad to be back,” I smile at them. “Being stuck in that house was nearly the end of me.”

“I’m certain Muff made it worth your while,” Addi grins, wiggling her brows. “I bet he spent every day cleaning out that closet.”

“Addison,” I snort, then burst out laughing.

“Well, she’s not wrong,” Ciara giggles. “Tell us, was it every day?”

These girls.

“Let’s just say we’ve had so much sex that if I’m not pregnant again, there is something wrong.”

They all laugh.

“Wait, you’re trying for another baby?” Serenity asks, her eyes wide.

I scoff. “Gosh, no. It was just a joke. I’m on my period. But, I mean, if it happens again... I wouldn’t be sad.”

“Ohh, look at us, little mothers,” Ciara says, then her eyes well up. “Oh no, pregnancy hormones. They’re a killer.”

Addison rolls her eyes. “Girl, we need to get you laid.”

Ciara starts crying and laughing at the same time. “I get laid all the time, but he’s so fucking gentle. I miss him being a dirty, filthy pervert.”

More laughter.

“Tie him up, jump his bones, and don’t give him a choice. Show him just how naughty a pregnant momma can be,” Addi smirks, before taking another shot.

“Bloody bikers.” Ciara sniffles, then she’s smiling again.

Damn pregnancy. It’ll do it to you.

“What about you and Jackson?” I ask Serenity. “More babies?”

Serenity grins. “Not right now, I’m enjoying him too much.”

“Ew, Serenity, that’s my father!” Addison groans, pressing her hands over her ears.

“Oh, yes, he loves it when I call him daddy.”

Addison squeals, leaping out of the booth and running to the bar. We all laugh.

“It’s okay, Addi,” Serenity calls. “Daddy loves it.”

“Fuck you, Serenity.” Addi yells back.

I can’t wipe the smile off my face.

How the hell did I ever get through life without these girls?

“Tell me,” Ciara says, leaning forward, her pretty eyes on me. “How is the Harper situation going?”

“She left town.” I tell her. “She wasn’t happy about it, but she’s not a bad person, and I guess she accepted Muff’s choice. He calls once a week to check on her, make sure she’s okay.”

“And you’re good with that?” Serenity asks.

I shrug. “I decided to let him back in, to trust that he means what he says, so I can’t think about it. If I can’t trust him again, this won’t work.”

“Speaking of trust,” Addi returns to the table, placing some shots down. “What’s going on with the club? Cade is so sketchy, it’s weird. He won’t tell me a damn thing, but something went down when that shit Wesley delivered a message.”

I shudder.

Therapy is my new best friend after what Wesley did to me.

“Any idea what that message was? Because nobody is saying anything,” Ciara asks, her eyes moving to me.

I shake my head. “He never told me. He just said that the club I thought was so good, really wasn’t. He didn’t give anything else away.”

Addi frowns. “I don’t like that because it sounds bad. Like, what does he know that we don’t?”

“Maybe we should find out,” Serenity suggests. “We’re pretty good at uncovering shit.”

I turn to stare at her. “Are you saying we snoop?”

She shrugs. “Why not? Whatever it is, it’s taking all their attention and making them all stressed and grumpy. I want to know what could cause that reaction.”
