In the bedroom, Bliss rose up on her elbows as he passed the bed and went back out into the hallway. Gathering her pants and boots, he carried them back into the bedroom, picked up her top from the floor, and then dumped all her clothes on her naked body.

She stared at him in shocked surprise.

“Get dressed and get out.”

The hurt expression on her face almost made him reconsider until he remembered how she had looked with Greer at Rosie’s.

“You got what you wanted. I fucked you. The first time, I did it your way. The second was how I wanted to give it to you. You need to make up your mind which way you want it. The first way means you leave when it’s over. The second means you stay the night and see where this goes, which means you’re not running to fuck anyone with a dick when you’re mad. When you decide, give me a call. Until then, I need to get some sleep. You wore me out. Oh, and lock the door behind you.”

Drake went to the opposite side of the bed and climbed in. Yawning, he rolled onto his side, giving her his back. He waited for her to throw something at him or yell. Instead, he wasn’t sure, but he thought he might have heard a small sniffle.

His hand clenched into a fist under his pillow. He wanted to drag her back to bed, but he had Porter blood in him, and Porters were born hunters. Drake was determined to catch the woman who wasn’t even aware she was his prize.

Chapter 9

“Would you like a cup of hot chocolate?”

“No, thanks,” Bliss replied as she stared down at the book she was holding.

She heard Ginny go back into the kitchen as she continued to stare down sightlessly, her mind replaying the night before with Drake.

Picking up her cell phone, which was lying next to her on the sofa cushion, she saw that no calls or texts had come through. The other day when he had texted her, she had ignored them. Right then, however, she wished Drake would break and text her, relieving her of trying to make sense of her chaotic emotions.

Ginny came back into the room¸ carrying a mug, which she placed next to Bliss on the end table. “I brought it in case you changed your mind.” Ginny then went to the closet and took out her coat.

“Thank you. You’re going out?”

“I’m going to a movie with Willa and Lucky. Would you like to go?”

“No. I’m sure I’m the last person they want to see you show up with.” Willa might have offered her a place to live, and Bliss believed she had truly forgiven her for breaking her grandmother’s cookie jar during a bitch fit. However, Lucky, despite being a pastor, would abide by the club rules and maintain his distance.

Ginny pulled her hair out from under her coat. “I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. Are you sure?”

“I’m sure. Have a good time.”

“I will. I’ll see you later.”

“Bye.”

Bliss stared at the closed door, wishing she could have gone, tired of staying inside the house. She needed to decide what her next step was going to be.

She had hated getting up to go to work early every morning. However, she needed to find a job, one that had a flexible schedule.

Bliss snorted to herself. As if a job like that existed. She didn’t miss working in the factory, and even though they hadn’t taken her job with the privileges of being a Last Rider, she had known it would be too hard to work there and watch their interactions from the outside.

She looked down at her silent cell phone again. Before she could change her mind, she called Drake.

“Hello.”

“What are you doing?”

A brief silence met her question before he replied, “I’m about to take Jace and Cal for a ride.”

“May I go?”

“Did you make up your mind?”

“Yes.” Suddenly, the decision she had been struggling to make seemed clear. She had been fighting a losing battle. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she liked it when he treated her like what she thought and felt mattered. She couldn’t remember if anyone ever had before.

“What’s it going to be?”

“I want to do it your way.”

“Can you be here in fifteen minutes?”

“Yes.”

“I’ll wait on you, then. Wear something warm.”

“Okay.” Bliss disconnected the call, jumping off the couch to run upstairs and change into a pair of jeans.

Searching through her drawers, she found a sweatshirt and tugged it on. She started to put on her leather boots, but instead, she went to her closet and took out a pair of suede ones with fur lining. It was cold outside, and flurries had started to fall.

Bliss wiggled her toes in the warm fur before running back downstairs to put on a coat. Her leather jacket was all she had, though; she would freeze her ass off. However, Ginny had a spare dark gray coat that was thicker. Bliss took it and slid it on. She didn’t think Ginny would mind. Zipping it up, she then grabbed her purse.
