“If you need a soundtrack for your man makeover, let me know.” Her lips had curled up, the words an obvious secret joke between them.

That was what he wanted, and he could only ever have it with Lou because that kind of deep connection came from soul mates, and she was his. He’d just been too scared to let them be what they needed to be.

Or maybe he hadn’t been ready and now he was.

“I think I fucked up, Dad.”

“From what I saw on that tape, you didn’t fuck up,” his dad replied. “She seemed to enjoy it.”

He hadn’t meant to make a sex tape, but then that had been Lou’s fault. She’d known everyone would be able to see through those highly inventive glasses when they inevitably cleared the jammers. “We don’t ever have to talk about that again.”

“You might not want to talk about it, but you should probably do it again and often. You’ll discover that women as smart as Lou often forget their own bodily needs and often have a hard time turning off their brains long enough to enjoy sex,” his father explained.

Yep, they were having this talk. Well, his family had always been strangely open. “She wants a D/s only relationship.”

His dad snorted at that bit of news. “Then you’re already halfway there. This isn’t going to be hard, son. Now, let’s game-plan.”

He leaned in, willing to learn from the master.

Chapter Six

“Okay, you seem weirdly calm for what happened.” Kala entered the dining room with a mug of something warm in her hands. “I kind of thought I would have to come and drag you out of wherever you would be hiding.”

“Why should I hide?” Lou was weirdly calm. Not weirdly. Pleasantly.

Well, except she was horny. She’d joked about being horny before, but now she thought what she’d meant was lonely with a side of “I wish I wanted to have sex more.”

Now she understood. She wanted. Longed. Needed.

The spanking had been enough to get her through the initial anxiety, but she’d had to stop herself from seeking him out again. Luckily she’d seen his mom disappear into the room he was in, and that had been enough of a deterrent.

“Because it’s what you do when you need to cry. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, I either find a sub and beat his ass or I let Coop beat my ass and then have a couple of drinks. You hide in your closet and reread the sad moments in romance novels.”

Her best friend knew her well, and yes, more than once over the years Kala had snuck into her hidey-hole and brought her some tea or a soda or smuggled in one of the Buds so she had a dog to cuddle. “Well, my closet isn’t here, and I didn’t bring a book.”

“So what worked, Lou?”

There was an air of expectation to her best friend, the one that told her she was willing to be stubborn as hell until she got some answers. Kala Taggart had been like a sister to her. They hadn’t started out that way. At first she’d been the cool older kid who didn’t mind hanging with someone younger. She’d practically worshipped Kala the way she had TJ.

Because they’d been the first friends she’d ever made, the first of her peers to accept her for who she was, to love her for who she was.

She loved Kala on every level. She loved her for the complex, irritable, loyal, stubborn woman she was. “You don’t want to know. What’s in the mug?”

Kala sighed and slid it her way. “Chamomile tea. So you did the deed.”

She was twenty-five years old and they were talking like she’d lost her virginity and brought shame to the family line. It was annoying. “Not exactly. I let him spank me and it worked, and I feel better now.”

Mostly better. She was still kind of dreading the moment TJ would walk in and she would have to be professional with him.

Kala’s eyes widened. “No. You didn’t. Please tell me you didn’t decide to have a D/s relationship with my cousin. Did you use the words we can keep it to the club?”

Lou wasn’t sure what the problem was. “Is that so surprising? You’ve always told me I should find a top to play with. Now I have.”

Kala’s head fell back on a groan. “That’s what the dumbass guy who needs to make up for shit is supposed to say.”

“Nah.” Kenzie bounced in, setting her laptop on the already crowded table. “That’s what the chick who can’t let herself believe that it’s real is supposed to say. Wait until I tell Mom. She’ll say you’re coming along nicely.”

She wasn’t coming at all, and that was the problem. Now she had a taste for it. “I’m ready to explore D/s, especially as a coping mechanism, and I think TJ is perfect. He doesn’t have a permanent sub and he’s kind of part time, so it’s not like we would be in each other’s space too much.”
