Fuck, I miss the days when accidentally marrying a poltergeist was my biggest problem.

“Don’t even,” I start, holding up my hand.

“Not even was IClick here to enter text. going to,” Eliza quips, flicking her blue eyes from the book to mine. She has on her famous smug smile, but I can see the worry behind it. Everything that happened was scary, really fucking scary, even for her. She was attacked, unable to defend not only herself but Kristy and Juliet as well. That feeling of helplessness is enough to leave anyone rattled.

“I’ll wait until the morning,” Eamon says, doing only a little better than Eliza at hiding his feelings too. But I knew his mind just got fucking blown, having come here thinking he was the biggest bad in town.

Hah. If only.

“Speaking of,” he goes on, pointing at the windows. “You don’t have blackout curtains.”

“Didn’t we already go over this?” I ask, pinching the bridge of my nose. I’m this close to losing it. “I don’t remember. Just…don’t worry about it here, okay?”

Eamon’s eyes flit to Eliza, who’s looking more smugClick here to enter text. than normal knowing something that he doesn’t.

“Pick a guest room. Preferably one at the opposite side of the hall than my room.” I let out a sigh and go upstairs, heart starting to beat a little faster as I near my room. The door is closed and no light comes from under it. Scarlet, Binx, and Pandora are hanging out in the room with Kristy, giving me space. Thanks, guys, I mentally tell them.

Never in my life have I been scared of Lucas, not even when we first met and I was fairly certain and was a serial killer targeting witches. And I suppose right now, I’m not scared of him, but rather of the disappointment I’m going to see in his eyes when I tell him everything. And I will tell him everything, and it will be a weight selfishly lifted off me when I confess, putting the burden on him as well. He’s already sacrificed enough for this family; now it’s my turn.

Slowly letting out a breath and trying to steady my racing heart, I reach for the door and feel that odd yet familiar prickle down my spine. Now’s not the time for wings. Another weird feeling threatens to take over, just like how it did when I was at Novel Grounds talking to Kristy. I really need to get my angelic side under control. Because if I somehow figure out how to fly away from here, it’s going to be really difficult getting back.

Hah. Maybe I should keep my passport and credit card on me at all times just in case I take myself to that beach my dad likes so much. Though as long as I could talk to Lucas, he’d help me get home. My heart swells in my chest thinking about him. He’s my rock and my comfort and I know without a doubt, no matter what, I can always count on him. Fiery passion aside, Lucas is the best friend and companion I could ever ask for and I’ve never once doubted his love for me.

Blinking rapidly, I clear my head and go into our bedroom. Lucas, who was sitting on the bed, narrows his eyes ever so slightly and then gets up, zooming over with vampire speed. He closes the door behind me and then grabs me, pinning me up against the wall.

“Lucas,” I pant, lips parting as I watch the darkness take over his face. “I can explain.”

“Don’t,” he growls and then puts his lips to mine. I melt into him, desperately reaching for him and hooking my arms around his shoulders. I pull him close and he steps in, hips against mine. Heat floods my body as he deepens the kiss.

“Lucas,” I start, panting his name between kisses.

“Not now.” His lips brush against my skin as he whispers, moving his mouth to my neck. I can feel the sharp tips of his fangs against my flesh, pressing hard enough to just scratch the first layer of my skin. The anticipation of the bite sends a thrill through me, making me want him even more. My eyes flutter shut and I relent to him, widening my legs and welcoming him in between.

“Lucas,” I repeat, feeling my heart bounding in my chest, beating for the both of us. “Let me—”

“No.” One of his hands moves to my collarbone, thumb pressing into the little dip in my bone and into my neck.

“Mh-hm,” I whimper, lips parting as I look into his dark blue eyes.

“Good girl.” His fingers inch up my neck, pressing into my flesh. He pulls his lips back, revealing his fangs and looking absolutely terrifying and feral. He could rip me apart in just seconds and there would be little I could do to stop him.
