Despite the speech he had recited about how she could call on him day or night and ask for anything at all, she got the distinct feeling that her attendant just wanted to be left alone. She resolved not to bother him if she could help it—she really hated dealing with sullen men.

At last, with a ding the shiny gold doors slid open revealing what looked like a giant birdcage. Kara watched apprehensively as Feex opened the wrought iron doors and gestured her inside. He came in after her and clanged the doors closed. Then he pushed the button with a 5 on it and waited silently as they soared upwards.

The elevator shaft was pitch black and there was only a faint silvery light from a round globe at the top of the birdcage car. Kara swore she could see her attendant’s creepy red eyes glowing in the dark. Feex kept a blank expression on his face and said nothing until the elevator came to a stop on the fifth floor. Then he gestured and mumbled,

“After you,” indicating that Kara should leave the cage first.

He led her down another long white corridor, this one carpeted in short, dense, black fur, until they reached her room.

“Place your palm in the center of the door,” he told Kara, pointing to a white wooden door that had been decorated in gold. “That way the door will read your imprint and it will open to you and only to you for the remainder of your stay.”

Kara did as he said and pressed her hand flat against the cool wooden surface. She felt a tingling sensation in her palm and fingers and then a soft voice murmured,

“Admittance granted. Welcome, Kara.”

The door clicked and then swung open. Kara’s handprint remained on it, outlined in pink for a few minutes, before slowly fading.

“This is your suite, we hope you enjoy your stay,” Feex mumbled. He turned to go and shuffled down the hallway, leaving her alone.

Well so much for explaining any amenities, Kara thought indignantly. He hadn’t even told her where the pool was or what time meals were served! But she supposed she could find all that out on her own.

She was about to enter her suite when the door opposite hers opened and a curvy, middle-aged woman with bright pink skin and long blonde hair came out. She was wearing a black gown with a slit up the front of it and a plunging neckline that practically showed her nipples, which poked at the silky fabric.

Coming right behind her was a monk—a Paradisian, Kara saw by his third eye and shiny gold skin. He looked to be somewhere in his twenties and was wearing a long green robe like Feex had. His silvery hair was tied in a braid at the back.

“Come along now, Brother Nono,” the woman in the black dress was saying to him. “We must get to the shopping district before the traffic gets bad.”

“Yes, my Lady Winthrip,” the monk said, nodding subserviently. “I’ll get you there in time—I promise.”

“I know you will, Nono. You’re a sweet boy.”

She patted his cheek affectionately and seemed about to say something else when she noticed Kara standing across the hall from her.

“Oh, hello there!” she said, smiling in a friendly way. “You must be the new guest we heard was coming today. I’m Lady Gaela Winthrip but you can call me Gaela. And this is Brother Nono, my personal attendant.”

“Hi, I’m Kara,” Kara said, smiling politely. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“And you as well. But where is your attendant?” Gaela looked around the hallway, but Brother Feex was long gone by that time.

“Er, he left,” Kara said. “I, uh, don’t think he really wants to be here,” she added. “He’s certainly not very enthusiastic about doing his job.”

“Oh, do you have Brother Feex?” Gaela asked, frowning.

“How did you know?” Kara asked.

“Because he’s simply dreadful, my dear! Why the last girl in your suite left early because his service was so bad. He never wanted to wash her hair or massage her or anything.”

“Wash her and massage her?” Kara asked, frowning. “I, uh, didn’t know that was part of the service here.”

“Oh my, yes! It’s one of the best things about coming to the Fem Lovely,” Gaela told her. “You get your own personal attendant who’s supposed to meet all your needs—and I do mean all of them, you know?” She winked her third eye—the one in her forehead—expressively.

“Uh…” Kara wasn’t sure what to say about that. Did Gaela mean that the monks took care of sexual needs as well? “I thought all the attendants here took a vow of celibacy,” she said.

“Oh, they have. And you never have to worry about them breaking it either, because they all wear these little chastity cages on their man parts. Nono—show her your cage,” she commanded the monk who was attending her.
