“Elizabeth,” he said stiffly.

Elizabeth’s eyes widened in shock as the lift door closed behind them. She stared from Jameson to Maggie.

“Jameson, I wasn’t expecting to see you,” she said stiffly. “I didn’t know you were back in London.”

“A short visit,” Jameson replied coldly.

Maggie leaned into him, hoping it was the right thing to do. He wrapped his arm around her, drawing her in tight.

“Hello. I’m Charles.” The man next to Elizabeth held out his hand.

Jameson just looked at it, so Maggie reached out to shake it. Was this Elizabeth’s husband? He looked nice. Not cold like Jameson said. He was about half a foot shorter than her and older with a receding hairline.

“I’m Maggie. This is Jameson.”

“Hey, what’s the hold up? I’m starving!” Jack bounced up to them. Then he whistled low and long as he saw Elizabeth. “Shit, I didn’t realize the weather forecast was predicting that the Wicked Witch of London would ride in on her broomstick.”

Elizabeth drew in a sharp breath as Maggie held back a giggle. “How dare you speak to me like that!”

“I’d speak to you much worse, but we are in public,” Jack said.

“I don’t think I like the way you’re speaking to Elizabeth,” Charles said rather bravely considering Jack had more than a foot of height on him.

“Who are you?” Jack asked. “Oh, are you Elizabeth’s husband?”

“Uh no,” Charles replied. “We’re not there yet.”

“Aldridge dumped you, did he?” Jack asked, giving Elizabeth a look of false sympathy. “Did he learn that the black cauldron between your legs leads to hell and that sticking his dick in there was akin to getting a blow job from a viper?”

“Jack!” Maggie cried.

“We are leaving. Right now,” Charles said.

“Good,” Jack replied. “And you might want to rethink who you get into bed with, Charles, my good man. Because this one is a cold-hearted bitch who is only interested in the numbers in your bank account.”

“What’s going on? Oh fuck, Elizabeth.” Ian sighed as he walked up to them.

Good. They needed someone to help corral Jack.

“I need to speak to management,” Ian said. “I didn’t realize they let the bride of Satan in here.”

Dear. Lord.

“I’m hungry,” she announced, knowing that would get the men’s attention.

Ian immediately moved over to her, wrapping his arm around her waist. “Of course you are, you’ve barely been eating. You’re going to eat some protein and carbs.”

“I’ll go get you a tea, baby.” Jack ran his finger down her cheek.

“So, this is your new slut?” Elizabeth sneered. “Slumming it, are you, Jameson?”

“Elizabeth,” Charles said, sounding shocked.

Jameson stepped into her space. “Call my girlfriend a slut again and I won’t hold Jack back anymore. I will let him fucking ruin you. And for your information, she’s worth a million of you. She’s loyal, kind, and sweet. She’d never break up with me because I didn’t have enough money for her. Or spread my private information far and wide to humiliate me. Come, precious girl.”

She took Jameson’s hand, smiling to herself. Poor Charles looked confused and upset, but hopefully, he took their words to heart.

“Can I?” Jack asked, moving so he was walking backward in front of them. “Can I ruin her?”

“Not yet,” Jameson said. “But if she comes after us again, give her everything.”

Darkness filled Jack’s face and it made her tremble. With desire.

“I don’t think I’m normal,” she announced as they entered the dining area.

Jack laughed. “None of us are, baby. That a problem?”

She grinned. “Not at all.”

“I’m sorry, ma’am. You’re not on the list of visitors so I can’t let you in to see Mr. Stonehurst.”

Frustration bit at her and she just wanted to cry. This place looked nice enough, and she was certain that they were great at their jobs, but Uncle Willy didn’t belong here.

“But he’s my uncle and my employer. He got hurt because he was upset I was kidnapped and he doesn’t even know I’m all right. Please let me see him.”

“I’m sorry.” Sympathy filled the older woman’s eyes.

“My name is Doctor Jameson St. Bede.” Jameson stepped forward. “I was his physician when he was first admitted in Escana. I’m sure it’s on the records there. And I have some identification. Perhaps I could see him as a visiting physician.”

The woman bit her lip, looking torn. “Look, I can’t let you in, but I can go see Mr. Stonehurst and see how he’s doing. Perhaps give him a message.”

Maggie quickly grabbed a piece of paper and wrote him a note with her phone number. “Is he all right?”

“He hasn’t been here long and has been tired and sore from his head injury, but I heard he’s much more lucid today. Though he’s not thrilled about where he is. He should be getting an assessment soon. After that, they’ll make a decision about whether he needs to stay here or not.”
