He strode through the house, into the bedroom, and laid her gently onto the bed. He stripped her of her leggings and T-shirt, what she called her hanging around the house clothes, leaving her naked on the bed.

As much as he wanted to take his time and lick his way up her delectable body, he wanted to give her a connection to him more. He undressed just as quickly and lay down beside her, pressing his lips to hers and kissing her for a good long while.

Dipping his head, he licked around her nipple before pulling one into his mouth and sucking hard. She moaned and threaded her fingers through his hair, a move he loved even more when she scratched his scalp and tugged on his longish strands.

“I need you, Zach.”

Her words and the emotion behind them were everything he needed.

He lifted his head and met her gaze. “And I want to give you what you need.” He switched to her other breast, providing the same treatment. She tasted sweet, her moans even sweeter. He slid one finger through her slick wetness, making certain she was ready since her mind could be on all the different things causing her stress.

But he was happy to find her ready for him. He came over her and braced his arms on either side of her head. With his gaze on hers, he slid easily inside her warmth, neither breaking eye contact as he rocked into her. Instead of fast and furious, this was a slow coming together, more a reunion and a silent admission of unspoken feelings.

She raised her arms and he clasped her hands in his, the slow pace as he dragged his cock out and eased back in had emotions he’d locked down years ago flooding back. He picked up speed with a steady thrusting until she rolled her hips and ground herself up and against him as she came.

Only then did he let himself go.

Hadley stood by Zach outside his parents’ house as he rang their doorbell. She needed to focus on Dani and not the emotions making love with Zach had stirred.

Nothing mattered right now except telling her sister that her father was in prison, and would be staying there for the foreseeable future. Not even the fact that Hadley had just admitted to herself that she’d made love to Zach took precedence.

As they waited, he grabbed her hand and squeezed for reassurance. She glanced at him and smiled. He’d been her rock through all of this, and she was grateful.

The door opened and Serenity stood there, a surprised look on her face.

“Hi, Mom,” Zach said.

“What are you two doing here? Not that I’m not happy to see you.” She stepped aside and ushered them in with a sweep of her arm.

“I need to talk to Dani,” Hadley said as they stepped into the foyer and Serenity shut the door behind them.

“Of course. I’ll go get her. I think they’re in Layla’s room.”

Serenity strode off and Zach turned Hadley towards him. “Are you okay?”

She shook her head. “I don’t know what I am, but I do know you’ve been here for me through every step of this nightmare and… thank you.”

He brushed a strand of hair off her cheek and tucked it behind her ear. She shivered as his hand caressed her skin. “You’re going to get through this,” he assured her. “I’ll make sure of it.”

“Layla Dare, come downstairs and tell your brother and Hadley what you just told me.” Serenity sounded angrier than she’d been the night the girls had missed curfew, and she’d been furious then.

Hadley spun away from Zach. “What’s wrong?” she asked as Serenity marched back into the room, a reluctant Layla trailing behind her.

Layla stepped forward. Her eyes were red and mascara ran down her face.

Something was very wrong. “Where’s Dani?” Hadley asked, panic fueling the adrenaline in her veins.

Layla literally wrung her hands. “Umm… well…”

“Out with it,” Serenity said in mom voice.

“Layla?” Zach’s deep tone startled his sister.

“Dani has a secret phone and she’s been talking to her mother,” Layla said on a rush.

“What?” Hadley and Zach asked at the same time. He immediately put a calming hand on her shoulder, which she appreciated.

Layla shrugged. “She has a phone. She said her mom gave it to her the night before she came here but it’s weird looking. Nothing like our iPhones.”

Hadley blew out a deep breath, trying not to panic. “Where is Dani now?”

Biting down on her lower lip, Layla began to wring her hands again. “She went to meet her mom, but she was supposed to be back by now and she’s not answering the number on her real phone.”

Hadley spun to face Zach. “Oh my God. I never factored Patrice into the equation. That woman has always been trouble. Where could Dani be?”
