Now, Harrison forced his gaze off Winter’s nipples, pert and tight behind the thin tee, as he changed places with her in the bathroom. The room still smelled like her shampoo and body wash. He knew she’d used both, because the pretty bottles sat inside his luxury shower, made with teak floors, marble walls, and a matching wood double vanity. The cream paint added to the neutral tones of the bathroom.

He turned on the hot water and stepped under the spray. He tipped up his head and washed his face, then poured shampoo into his hand. After soaping up his hair, he rinsed and grabbed another bottle, pouring some body wash into his palm.

As he washed, he closed his eyes. A vision of Winter flashed before him. She was kneeling on the floor, her hand around the base of his cock, her mouth sucking him deep. He groaned and when he opened his lids, his slippery hand was pumping his dick, the soap making it easier to milk himself. Arousal rushed through him, and a flash of heat came quickly, telling him he wouldn’t last long.

In his mind, Winter’s tongue licked his cock, her lips tight around the shaft as he plunged into her wet mouth over and over again. A tingle started low in his spine. His balls drew up and before he knew it, his climax hit and he let out a stifled groan, his come coating the shower floor before the water rinsed it away.

He hoped that orgasm would allow him to climb into bed with her and not get hard as a rock, though he doubted it. Shutting the shower off, he stepped out, picked a towel off the warmer and dried himself off. He finished up his nightly routine, drew a deep breath and walked out to join her, wearing a pair of sweats because… just because he didn’t want to freak her out right now.

She’d slid beneath the comforter and sat up against a couple of pillows. She patted the space on his side of the large bed. “Come.”

He almost told her he just had. He flipped down the covers, slipping in beside her.

She immediately turned to him. “I wanted to tell you something. I am so sorry you had to endure such a long day. I had no idea my—the senator and I would talk for so long. I should have just sucked it up and gone alone.” She looked at him through her dark lashes. “But I’m glad I didn’t. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. I was happy to support you.” She’d had time since being with her father to process her feelings. “So what did you think of the man?” Harrison asked.

She blinked and remained silent, obviously weighing her answer. “It was… an emotional afternoon.” She slid her tongue over her lush bottom lip. “I was interested in everything he had to say. But… how do I say this? I guess I’m still torn.”

He tipped his head to one side. “Why?”

She twisted her hands together, something she did when she was nervous or upset. “I’m trying to decide whether or not I can trust him,” she admitted. “Remember, this is the man who ignored his daughter in public and allowed his wife to handle his children in a way that caused emotional damage.”

Harrison had heard the story from Asher. Nikki had been devastated when her parents, strolling through the hotel with donors, had seen her and deliberately walked away, ignoring her. It was too risky for them to acknowledge her in public while she was embroiled in her scandal. It had been the last straw, leading to Nikki breaking off any relationship with her mother. Had her father been collateral damage? Time would tell, not only if Asher’s fiancée forgave the senator but whether or not he deserved her forgiveness.

“He allowed her mother to belittle and demean her in every way,” Winter went on.

She was clearly adding up the reasons not to have a relationship with the man, but Harrison thought she should get to know the man better before making a firm decision. She needed to give the idea of having her father in her life a chance, if only to understand what her own child needed, he thought.

He turned to her, reaching out and stroking a hand down her cheek. He’d meant to offer comfort but for him, the touch turned sexual and went straight to his dick.

He shook off that thought. She’d just admitted to having an emotional day. He couldn’t prey on her weakened state tonight. They needed to build… or start to build a more solid foundation before he pushed for more. It was a damned good thing Winter couldn’t see his hard cock beneath the comforter. Jerking off in the shower hadn’t done a damned thing. All he’d had to do was look at Winter and he wanted her.
