“Sorry,” I whisper, forcing myself to stop and settle into his arms.

Neither of us says another word. But when I fall asleep this time, I do so with a smile playing on my face.

Perhaps Julian doesn’t hate me as much as he makes out.

Maybe there’s still some hope for us...

JULIAN

“What on earth?”

Somebody is poking me, and I wake up with a scowl on my face. I take a moment to realize where I am and what’s going on. I find my arms around a girl and quickly remember who it is. I pull back as if I’ve been burned.

“We… got locked in,” I mutter, nudging Francesca awake as I pull myself up.

“Uh huh.” The handyman shoots me a meaningful look. “The less I know about this, the better.”

I smirk as Francesca picks herself up, deeply flushed with embarrassment. She quickly puts those stripper heels back on and waits for me by the door like she’s my fucking puppy.

“Thanks for going to all the trouble to keep this a secret,” I mutter to the handyman, slipping him a couple hundred-dollar bills. He grins in return, waving us off as we finally leave the room together.

“Thanks for helping me last night,” Francesca mutters as we step onto the campus. “You didn’t have to do that.”

It’s painfully early and foggy as fuck. I don’t have the energy to deal with Francesca right now. As much as I want to mock her for locking us in, I’m more eager to just get back to my bedroom and catch another hour or two of sleep.

“See you around,” I mutter, turning and walking away without giving her another look. I can feel her gaze on my back until I round the corner.

The day passes rather uneventfully. Since it’s the weekend, some students have gone back home to see their parents, but not me.

My biological father is dead, and I don’t think Bruno Bernardi wants to see much of me these days. He’s still pissed at me about Adrianna’s pregnancy scare, and even though I’ve tried to explain it, he won’t take my calls, either. So, like the unlucky few who’ve been left behind, I’m forced to stay on campus over the weekend as well.

I spend some time with my friends and head out to the bar in the evening. But even though we’re surrounded by beautiful women, I find myself unable to focus on any of them. My mind keeps going back to Leonardo, the missing guy whose place I seem to have taken.

I’m getting a little unhealthily obsessed with the mystery of his disappearance. But I can’t help it. Something about the story doesn’t quite sit right with me, as if there’s more to it that I need to uncover. For such a popular guy, I was surprised to find out he wasn’t as popular as everyone painted him to be. Adrianna seemed adamant that he was a jerk – the first time someone was honest with me when it came to Leonardo Brambilla.

My head is filled with thoughts of the missing student as I come back home and let myself in. The house is empty tonight, and I head up into my bedroom in peace, flicking the lights on as I slip off my coat.

“Surprise.”

I raise my eyebrows at the scene laid out in front of me. The floor and bed are strewn with rose petals. There are a few candles in the room, and on the bed, there’s a stunning blonde beauty.

And she is completely naked, save for a pair of fuck me heels.

“Adrianna,” I mutter. “What the hell are you doing here?”

“A little birdie told me you had to stay on campus this weekend,” the blonde purrs as she picks herself up from my bed, sauntering over to where I’m standing with a hungry expression. “I wanted to make it worthwhile for you.”

“I’m not in the mood for this.”

“Not in the mood for me?” she bats her lashes innocently, but I refuse to give her the time of day.

This is typical Adrianna – playing another one of her twisted little games to twirl me around her little finger. But unfortunately for her, I’m not playing tonight.

“No, you’d better get going,” I mutter. “Really not in the fucking mood.”

Her fingers trace the lapels of my blazer. “For me, or for sex?”

“Neither.”

Her lips purse, and I can tell I’ve offended her. But she isn’t giving up. Her palm cups my cock and I hiss out a warning as she squeezes.

“What if I don’t want to go?”

“Then I’ll fucking kick you out myself.” I pull her hand off my junk. “What the hell are you doing,

Adrianna? This is beyond inappropriate, and you need to fucking leave.”

“Why are you treating me this way?” her bottom lip wobbles and she can’t quite meet my gaze. “I’m just trying to rekindle what we had. Don’t you miss me?”
