“Where’s the woman who was in the trunk?” Viper asked, gesturing for Rider and Train to get the two people in the back out.

Rogue hooked his finger toward the cab of his truck. “Sitting up front. I’ll get her out.”

Striding to the opposite side of the semi, he opened the door then stepped up on the sideboard. On the outside, they heard him unbuckle a seat belt. Then he lifted a woman out and hopped down to the ground, as if the woman didn’t weight five pounds. Setting the woman on her feet, he stepped away.

Viper asked the question on everyone’s mind. “Why did you tie and gag her?”

“Wanted me to let her and the people who had wrapped her up like a mummy go. When I told her no, she turned crazy on me. Told her I wasn’t going to hurt her, and I was going to let her go.”

Jewell shoved her way through the mass of men to start untying the woman.

“I wouldn’t do that. She’s the one who tried to run you down.”

Jewell ignored the warning. “Elizabeth?” she asked as she finished untying her.

Her frightened eyes had been clinging to Jewell’s movements then switched to encompass the large group of men standing around her.

When the gag was removed, Elizabeth gave a blood-curdling scream before her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she started to fall to the ground.

Nickel, who was standing closest to her, caught her in his arms.

“I should have warned you,” Rogue apologized. “That’s why I gagged her. She nearly burst my ear drums every time I tried to ask her any questions.”

Jewell turned on the trucker furiously. “She’s terrified. You should have called the police when you saw how terrified she was.”

“I offered to … just made her crazier. Was hoping you could tell me why she didn’t want the cops called.”

Rory watched as Nickel carried Elizabeth up the steps to the club, followed by Train and Jewell.

“No clue,” Viper responded grimly.

“I’ll find out.” Knox grabbed the man who had been removed from the truck. “Greer, put her in the back seat. I’ll question them back in the office.” Knox, the only one able to rival Rogue’s size, sized the other man up. “You need to come to the sheriff’s office and make a statement.”

“You think I’m stupid enough to admit to kidnapping? I’ll be leaving. You can figure this clusterfuck out without me. As far I’m concerned, I’ve never seen these people, nor any of you. If I don’t radio my buddies and ask a certain question, you’re going to have about twenty semis rolling in here to make this place look like a demolition derby.”

Rogue shut the door to his cab. “You’re a cop; I suggest you write this up any way you want to.” Rogue’s eyes went between Knox and The Last Riders. “So, you can leave my part of this out. I’m out. I’ve been a trucker long enough to know when to hit the pedal to the metal. Peace out.”

Rogue made Rory wish he were gay. Rory had to remind himself that he loved pussy too much to switch to dick at this stage of his life when Rogue maneuvered the big rig back onto the road that looked twice as small as the semi. When the taillights disappeared out of the sight, Rory looked around to see The Last Riders had been watching also, all with the same expression that he was sure had been on his face.

“Good God. That fucker makes me want to get my CDL,” Cash joked.

“Me, too,” Viper seconded.

Greer snorted, holding the woman who was still tied by the wrists and gagged. “Not me.”

“I have one,” Rory told them. “Being a trucker isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”

The Last Riders looked at him.

“Is there any fucking license you don’t have?” Shade asked.

“I don’t have my pilot’s license.”

“You’ve been doing a pretty good job teaching Stud and me to fly,” Sex Piston said. Then she raised her wrist to show him her watch. “Tick-tock, Stud and I are ready for our next lesson. You should throw in another lesson for making us wait,” she demanded, despite the backhanded compliment she had given him.

“I’ll throw in half a lesson,” Rory bargained.

Snidely, Sex Piston screwed her face at him. “What in the fuck can we do with half a lesson? Board the fucking plane and get bumped off before it takes off?”

He was thinking more like sending both Sex Piston and Stud up in a plane with two parachutes, one of which didn’t work.

As if reading his mind, Stud hooked an arm around Sex Piston’s shoulders to pull her into his side. “She’s a pain in the ass, but she’s mine.”

Rory relented, feeling sorry for the man. “You can have another lesson.”

“What kind of lessons he giving you?” Greer butted in, shuffling his feet to dodge the kicking woman.
