He finished fixing Tripp’s bow tie, then smoothed his hands down the lapels of Tripp’s suit. “You’ll be fine.”
Tripp nodded. “Yeah, I know.”
“Guys, it’s time,” Ian said, then got into position in front of them.
Ian and Seamus were standing up for him, while Tripp had Elianna and Brett. Ian and Elianna walked down the aisle together, before they split and took their positions on either side of the minister. Seamus and Brett did the same. He and Tripp walked down the aisle together, hand in hand.
Their minister was Derrick, from Hawaii. They kept in touch with Derrick and Mandy, and when they told them they were getting married; Derrick offered to officiate. He was an ordained minister and had married a lot of his friends. They were happy to have someone they knew marry them.
“Welcome everyone to this joyous occasion. We’re here to witness the marriage of two amazing men, Jayme and Tripp. I’m not even going to ask if anyone objects, because that’s just a silly question.”
Everyone chuckled.
“We’re going to keep this short and sweet. Jayme and Tripp opted for traditional vows, let’s get started...Jayme, do you take Tripp to be your husband?”
He smiled. “I do.”
“Tripp, do you take Jayme to be your husband?”
“I do.” Tripp grinned.
Derrick then had him say his vows. “I, Jayme, take you Tripp, to be my lawful husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. I will love and honor you all the days of my life.”
Then it was Tripp’s turn. Tripp got a little choked up during his vows, which he thought was sweet. It was then time to exchange rings. Ian had Tripp’s ring, while Brett had his. Elianna would have held it, but she didn’t have any pockets in her dress. They decided to get simple gold bands, nothing fancy that could get messed up at work.
“Jayme, place the ring on Tripp’s finger, and repeat after me,” Derrick said.
He slid the ring on Tripp’s left ring finger, and held it there while repeating, “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love for you. Let it be a reminder that I am always by your side, and that I will always be a faithful partner to you.”
Tripp then did the same.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husbands. You may kiss.”
He grabbed Tripp and dipped him, before kissing him stupid. They parted with a laugh and turned to face the applauding crowd.
“I’m pleased to introduce you to Mr. And Mr. Flanagan,” Derrick announced.
He and Tripp clasped their hands together and started up the aisle; smiling brightly. They got high fives, and pats on the shoulders as they walked past the rows of family and friends. Once they got to the lobby, Tripp grabbed Jayme and hugged him tight.
“We’re married,” Tripp croaked.
“Yeah, we are,” he chuckled.
“We made it.”
“We did.” He smiled.
“God, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Tripp kissed him hard on the lips, before they were interrupted.
“Yay!” Elianna said as she hopped over and wrapped her arms around both of them.
They laughed as the rest of their wedding party joined in, giving them a group hug.
“Are you guys ready to party?” Seamus asked with a wicked grin.
“So ready,” Tripp said.
“Let’s do this.” He grinned.
After being introduced into the reception, they sat at their own little table. Dinner was served shortly after. The DJ played a nice mix of dinner music, including some Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
After dinner, it was time for their first dance as a married couple. As the music started, he took Tripp’s hand and pulled him against him. Tripp smiled softly as they wrapped their arms around each other. He took Tripp’s other hand and held it against his chest. They swayed to the song “To Make You Feel My Love” by Garth Brooks.
“You’re so gorgeous,” he murmured, unable to take his eyes off of Tripp’s.
Tripp smiled shyly, red creeping up his cheeks.
He gasped theatrically. “Did I just make you blush?”
“Shut up.”
He chuckled, and pulled Tripp in closer so that their cheeks touched. “I hope I can make you blush like that in bed tonight.”
“I’m dirtier than you are in bed, I don’t think you’re gonna make me blush.”
“I can certainly try,” he said, pulling back he could see Tripp’s face.
Tripp gave him a smile that was all challenge. “You most certainly can.”
He leaned in, and kissed Tripp softly on the lips.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said.
“Are you trying to make me cry?”
“No, I just needed you to know that.”
“Well, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me too, looks like we’re even.”
He grinned. “Okay.”
They kissed one more time as the song ended. The DJ started playing dance music to get everyone else out onto the dance floor. He left Tripp to dance with his sister on the dance floor, while he headed for the bar. He needed some booze before he started dancing.
