Tripp finished making his eggs and put them on a plate. He grabbed a fork and his coffee, then went and sat down across from Jayme.

“What are you gonna do all day while I’m gone?” Tripp asked, then took a bite of his breakfast.

“Go out of my mind?”

“Mmm, now you know how I felt when I had to stay home while you went to work.”

He rolled his eyes and took a sip of his coffee. “Seamus said I can help him plan his proposal to Mitch. I might go over there today.”

“Oh fun. When’s he planning on popping the question?”

“Next month.”

“Nice.”

Tripp poked at his eggs with his fork and pursed his lips like he was thinking about saying something; but isn’t sure if he should.

“What?” he asked.

Tripp shrugged. “Would you ever want to get married again?”

“I don’t know. Maybe? I guess it depends.”

“Depends on what?” Tripp replied, his gaze finding Jayme’s.

“If the person I’m with is someone I can’t live without.”

Tripp nodded and took another bite of his eggs.

“Do you want to get married?”

“Yes,” Tripp replied without a hint of hesitation.

He smiled. “Okay.”

“I mean, eventually. To the right person.”

His smile softened. “I knew what you meant.”

Tripp blushed. He quickly finished off his breakfast and took his plate to the sink; where he rinsed it and put it in the dishwasher. Jayme downed the rest of his coffee and headed over to the sink. He sat the mug down on the counter and grabbed Tripp around the waist. Tripp stiffened slightly as he pressed their fronts together.

“Hey. Relax. It’s just a conversation.” He soothed.

“I just don’t want you to think I want to get married now. I wasn’t talking about now...”

“I know. You’re talking about the future. It might not even be with me.”

“Right.”

“Or it might be with me.” He grinned.

Tripp’s lips twitched as he fought not to smile. “Could be.”

“I guess only time will tell.”

Tripp nodded in agreement. “Yep.”

He leaned in and kissed Tripp softly on the lips, lingering there for a moment. Man, he was totally falling for this guy, and could definitely see this relationship leading to marriage; but he wasn’t going to tell Tripp that. Not yet.

“All right. I gotta go. Have fun with your brother,” Tripp said.

He let him go and nodded. “Thanks.”

Tripp turned to leave, and Jayme gave his ass a swat; making Tripp glance over his shoulder at him. His sexy dimples deepening, as he flashed Jayme a sultry smile. His heart fluttered madly. Yep, he was falling hard for Tripp Littrell.

Jayme

Jayme waited patiently next to Mallory in the doctor’s office two weeks later. They were there to get their blood drawn for the paternity test. Mallory was in a shitty mood, and she was sitting there with her arms crossed over her chest; firm pout on her face.

“I don’t know why you don’t believe me when I say it’s yours,” she muttered.

He gave her an incredulous look. “You’re kidding me, right?”

“Whatever.”

“You’ve done nothing but lie to me. Why the hell should I believe anything you say?”

“Why are you here at all then if you don’t believe me?”

“Because of the slight chance that it is mine.”

“You’re gonna feel stupid when this test comes back saying that it’s yours.”

“Okay.”

Their names get called, cutting off their lovely conversation. They were taken back into the lab area of the office and were told to take a seat in two of the chairs. Mallory went first, then Jayme.

“Call me as soon as you get the results,” he said as they walked out to their cars. “I want to see the paperwork too.”

“Fine.” Mallory huffs.

Without a goodbye, they each get into their cars and drive off. Jayme headed to the gym. He took the day off of work to make the appointment, and now he has extra time to do whatever he wants before Tripp gets home. Time at the gym sounded good to work off some frustration.

He was doing bicep curls with the free weights when he saw Brendan coming up behind him in the mirror. He kept going. He wasn’t going to let this douchebag bother him while he was working out.

Brendan stopped next to him, looking hesitant. “Hey, Jayme.”

He ignored him, as he powered through his reps.

“Come on, Man. You can’t ignore me forever.”

“Sure, I can.” He panted.

“Listen, I’m sorry. She came onto me and I was weak. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn’t stop myself. I love her, Jayme.”

Jayme put down the weights and turned to face Brendan. “How long?”

“How long what?”

“How long were you together before we got divorced?”

“About six months.”

“And you came into work everyday and looked me in the eye and pretended to be my friend. Why did you come over here? You think we could salvage things? Forget it.” He scoffed, and moved on to do some back exercises. Brendan followed him.
